A man once asked Christ: “Who is my neighbor?”
Which makes me think “Who is my enemy?”
Who is so far from me that I wish not his/her salvation?"
Who do I feel spiritually superior to?
Who has behaved in such a way that they are no longer
prayed for by me?
Who have I looked at and thought: Thank God, I am not
as they are. Thank God I am more sensitive and more aware
of the spiritual in life?
Who have I shut out of my life and my prayer?
To whom have I not shown mercy?
These are then my enemy? How dare I?
How dare I shut out any man or woman from my prayer?
God causes the sun to warm both the sinner and the saint.
Yet who is a saint but a forgiven sinner, to whom God has shown mercy, in season and out of season?
And when we turn away from another, thinking them too wretched
in their behavior for our prayer, will God not treat us as we have
treated them?
Whom do I feel superior to?
How can you say You love Me, when you do not even love
those around you? Those whom I have chosen to put in
the world in your day?
Did I not do this because I expected you to pray for them?
And, what of you? Do you not need My mercy and forgiveness?
My Son died to save the human being from whom you turn away.
I was thinking today about the mercy of God.
