Sometimes, when I get bored, I go to biblegateway.com and read some of my favorite Bible passages in the Message translation and laugh for hours.

Seriously, it’s good fun.

22-23Then he took a deep breath and breathed into them. “Receive the Holy Spirit,” he said. “If you forgive someone’s sins, they’re gone for good. If you don’t forgive sins, what are you going to do with them?”

The Authorized Version is another name for the King James Version. The Revised Standard Version is a completely different translation, based on different original manuscripts of the Hebrew and Greek.

I have a Message Bible too. I do not use it much. I’ll reference it occasionally when I post something in the Sacred Scripture forum in the event that it does translate a particular verse in a way that is easy to understand. I usually post the same verse in more than one translation in those instances and usually include the verse from the RSV-CE also. The Message is definitely not my primary Bible, nor would I recommend that anyone use it as their primary Bible; but it does prove to be useful in a few cases.

Wow!

I guess I should be Thankful that Catholics use the NAB in the Liturgy, rather than that. I’d love to see Father’s face if someone snuck that in one time. Well, no, I guess the following coronary wouldn’t be worth the laugh.
 
In New Zealand we use the Jeruselem Bible at mass and I prefer that it is so easy to understand… There is also the American standard and the Good news, all Catholic versians

Don’t any of you use the Jeruselem Bible ???

It is quite difficult to find here in the USA.😦
