Physicist Michio Kaku addresses the question:

If quantum teleportation could teleport a whole human, would that transported human really be the same person or just an exact copy?

The video: Michio Kaku: The Metaphysics of Teleportation

I’ve heard this guy speak before, and I like him. Anyway he suggests that if we use quantum teleportation on a human, the original copy is destroyed. But the copy has memories and feelings and everything. What happens to the soul?

I just thought of something. Maybe we could teleport a person, using a “cancer filter” that conveniently disables a tumor during the transport? (Or remove the tumor, and then find a way to restructure space to fill the void.) Could we live forever by using the stored data from a younger body and merging it with your present self during teleporting?

There is no Metaphysics of " teleportation. " Have you read St Thomas? Metaphysics deals with " being qua being. " Your interest would fall into the area of fantacy, not even science. If it was genuine science you could talk about the Philosophy of Science - possibly.:rolleyes:

So you don’t believe teleportation is possible, or that it won’t work on living beings? Is this an absolute limit, or a technology limit?

Man is composed of a body and a spiritual soul, how could a machine or any matter move the soul, which is the substantial form of the body. So while it may be possible to transport a body or a physical object, it would not be able to transport the soul. She soul would remain on this side, so you would, in effect, kill the body. I think it is awfully fancifull.:hmmm:
