The morality of assisting aliens

Probably a little more realistic than zombies, but I was wondeirng what the moral implications of alien contact would be. What if a species like what happened in District 9 happened up our planet? As Christians, are we required by any teaching, from the Bible or from the Church to assist them?

But, because they’re not “human” would we consider them to have mortal souls or perhaps not worthy of protection/?

Obviously if the sods invaded all bets are off as to whether we treat them nice like.

I remember hearing a song years ago called UFO,there was a line in the song that said;if theres life on other planets,then I’m sure that He must know,cause He’s been their once already and died to save their souls.Thats a good thought.If aliens were to visit our planet,they would have to have greater inteligence than people here.May the force be with you.

I’d treat them like any other illegal alien. Call ICE and wait for the Border Patrol to arrive.

Of course, by the time this actually happens they will probably be eligible for instant citizenship.

I’d like to see Cardinal Mahoney walk up to their spacecraft to welcome them. Burp.

An intelligent being is not an animal and is entitled to our respect.
According to the traditional philosophical view of Catholicism (grounded in St. Thomas Aquinas) an intelligent being must have an immortal soul. What if we rejected such a being, and when we died, we saw him at Christ’s hand in heaven when we faced Christ then?
I think of the parable of the good Samaritan. The good Samaritan helped an alien group, a Jew in this case, and Christ saw him as a praiseworthy person. In this case,we would be the good Samaritan.
