Probably embarrassed. Funny the more I learn of bothScientology and Mormonism, the more they seem alike… lol…

Wow that’s very much like Scientology as well, the part where they refuse to face hard fact if it is to their perceived detriment… Simply amazing. Eden, I must say, despite our differences in the “repent” thread, I have much respect for your skill inrhetoric:thumbsup:

Thanks, I think. 😛 One of the striking things about Mormon missionaries, is the fact that they fail to mention a lot of unusual beliefs held in their religion, either out of fear of chasing away potential converts or because many Mormons themselves are kept in the dark about the more unusual aspects. I think a lot of people would agree that Joseph Smith was a brilliant science fiction writer. In fact, someone else started a thread about Battlestar Galactica and how it’s Mormon created got his inspiration from his faith.

You too. You have both now revealed your true colors.

As an ex-Mormon (though never visiting the temple, thank goodness!!!) I’m just compelled to send a reply. I think that the Mormon missionaries would enjoy a glass of something cool drink, maybe a snack dinner too and for the most part they’re excited to have discussions because they think that all discussions will end up in their favor. Though you will come across that they don’t know the answers to the questions you’re asking or just how to reply to anything you say. I know this because I was a Mormon for SUCH a short time and knew so little, and so when I was challenged by my Catholic friend (thank goodness for him and his prayers!) and I went to the missionaries they relied heavily on their testimony. I remember reading from the book of Abraham and thinking what nonsense it was, and that’s what really drove me to think more deeply on what they were teaching me. And that’s when I was pulled away by what could only be described as “huh? what in the world was I thinking?”
I’m much happier now 😃

Christianity is apostate. Mormonism is true.

Sometimes I feel sad. Perhaps he never had a chance to feel differently. Perhaps Mormon doctrine has been poundedso hard into him that he is incapable of trying to look at things in diffferent ways or academically acknowledging something they may not personally like

I think it is fair to say that there have always been Christians who apostasized from the faith.

There have also been Mormons who did the same from the Mormon faith.

We know these things from history.

I’m thinking here that Zerinus doesn’t mean the same thing when he says that Christianity is “apostate” as he would mean by saying that the LDS is “apostate.”

LDS is not apostate. Christianity is.

I don’t mean to speak for Zerinus, but from past conversations with him, I’ve learned that when he says Christianity is apostate, he doesn’t mean that all Christians have renounced the faith, which is what the word implies. What he means (and Z, correct me where I’m wrong) is that the authority of the Catholic Church was taken away. There is no valid priesthood. There are and always have been true Christians, but no priesthood. Now, how Mormons understand that there could be real Christians without the authority of Jesus active on Earth is beyond me, but I gather that this is what they believe.

In my local parish RCIA doesn’t start until September…so I have some waiting still. It’s easily the best/worst wait of my life! I love the time frame because it gives me the chance to KNOW (Mormons are concerned w/ #s like you wouldn’t believe); but in some ways so sad at attending Mass and not being able to participate fully. I’m reading/studying/learning a lot right now, but won’t be an official cathecumen (sp?) until September. And I’m certain that it will be worth the wait. 😃

So, you are just going to avoid the unusual teachings of Mormonism in favor of bumper sticker slogans?

Then I have one “I believe that Christianity is apostate as much as I belive in Kolob”.

The one great revelation here, which I admire you for admitting, is that you believe that Christianity is apostate and that Mormonism is not Christian. It’s really hard to get Mormons to admit that. So, I admire your courage for saying so.

LOL perfect, I didn’t see that hangingthere but now that you grapsed it, I’m ashamed I missed it! LOL

We believe that the early Christian church that the Lord established apostatized, and lost the divine authority that it once possesed.
Also explain to me what you think Christianity means.
I mean the institution of Christian church or religion that has susrvived during the centuries (Catholic, Protestant, the lot).

How.

Then simply saying “Christian” is innacurate and the usage of which misrepresents yourself.

Wrong! Christianity is apostate, and Mormonism is the only true Christian Church on earth, with its full divine authority restored in its original pristine condition.
