The Mormon Circle of Confusion......

just like the LDS Church, and its circle of confusion, is a parody of the TRUE Church
 
So the BoM predicted Columbus finding America and the American Revolution and the coming of Joseph Smith himself. But, we can obviusly say Smith or whoever wrote that themselves because all those events were already in their past!

Are there in prophecies in the BoM that has taken place in modern times? I don’t recall any.
Tell me something in the BoM that’s going to take place in the next year or two! Show me something in the BoM that has taken place in the 1980’s or something. Did the BoM predict man would land on the moon?

No, but a Mormon “prophet” declared that man would never land on the moon:

In 1961, Apostle Joseph Fielding. Smith said:
We will never get a man into space. This earth is man’s sphere and it was never intended that he should get away from it. The moon is a superior planet to the earth and it was never intended that man should go there. You can write it down in your books that this will never happen."

By the end of that same decade, men did land on the moon. It’s also worth noting that six months after the moon landings, Joseph Fielding Smith became president of the LDS church.

no…in fact, a Mormon Prophet said thier were men on the moon dressed like quakers and another LDS prophet said we would NEVER get to the moon
 
I’m actually willing to give Mormon Prophets a pass on non-religious subjects and I would classify going to the Moon or finding people there “dressed like Quakers” as non-religious. I see that to be similar to the Pope speaking about subjects other than Faith and Morals.

But the other stuff taught as doctrine, those things that actually impacted the members in the practice of their religion ~ such as the discrimination against African Americans ~ I don’t see how Mormons can get away from that one.

I’m not. Here is why: The Pope does not, and has never, claimed to speak face to face with God. I would not expect the Pope to know stuff about the moon. But if he spoke face to face with God on a regular basis, then I would. Joe and the other “prophets” claim to speak to God like you and I would speak to each other. I believe it was Kimball who claimed that he walked the halls with Jesus like you and I would walk the hall together. If they have that kind of access, then they should know.

You got it. It’s all hindsight being 20/20 in the BOM because when it was written in the 1820s, Smith had only to look at the recent past. The book, The Prophecies of Joseph Smith, claims to containover 400 prophecies that he got right, but the entire book is predicated on the accuracy of the BOM. I’m reading it in disbelief that people actually accept this tripe as fact.

You’ve probably noticed that Mormon prophecy has really petered out over the years because they know wen they say something stupid, it makes the entire church look bad so their prophecies are now confined to what was in the video. While tongue in cheek, it was accurate.

Well, Mormons claim the black, racist ban was not doctrine…but…but…we have a quote from the First Presidency that the racist ban came straight from God…so the Mormon responds…“well, not everything that comes from God is Doctrine…”

So then the D&C is not necessarily doctrine…right? So the Mormon replies…“yes, they came from the Prophet…”

So then, Adam-God is doctrine because it came from a Prophet…" The Mormon say, "NO! Because it did not say “thus sayeth the Lord!”

And the circle continues…

Sir Thomasmore, This is a really good analogy. It’s really what happens when you ask appropriate questions of Mormons or Mormon Missionaries.

A catholic was going to have two Mormon Missionaries over last Friday, yesterday. He asked an ex Mormon for some advice on how to speak to them. He told them that if you go deep with them you will be trying to make sense out of nonsense. If you do not catch this while speaking with them it could make for a long night. That you will end up going in circles. So I say again you nailed it here. To the Mormons who may be reading these posts. Pick up the Cross, choose the hard road if you can, although this cross is huge for you, you will not regret it. Deep down we all have a desire for truth, we don’t want to be running around in circles.

  2. Angel gave me plates
  3. I interpreted the plates
  4. And they said:
    • A righteous man will come from the south, and they shall call him Jimmy. And a big man from the west shall rise, who will be Ronny. And a burning bush will grow and fall, and economic prosperity will rise, and then a small bush will grow and fight, and a new color will be created that will live in a white house. *
Uh, those plates that the angel gave me were thousands of years old. And they talk about presidents from the 1970’s to today! How’s that for my plates being true? Anybody who says my plates are false is an agent of the Devil!
 
me too…but I will stand strong against false prophets like Joe Smith

You can’t be a prophet of God according to the LDS example until you tell five or six different versions of the story, revise your own interpretation several times, and go well beyond your original work to include things that are internally contradictory.
