As to movies, I’d say Chariots of Fire, Henry V (Kenneth Branagh), A Man for All Seasons, Casablanca are perfect in their genres and memorably inspiring.

I had skipped on “A Man For All Seasons” for years because it was an old crusty film.
Turns out it’s wonderful! It’s available on VidAngel for $1 rental.

It’s more relevant to our times than it was when it was filmed. It wouldn’t be made today–at least not by leftwing, sell-out-for-a-buck Hollywood, that’s for sure.

A Man for All Seasons – one of my favorites.
The Last Unicorn, animated film, beautiful.
My favorite book of Michael O’Brien’s is Father Elijah, about a priest given the mission of witnessing to the AntiChrist.
Elizabeth Goudge’s books. I recently read I Saw Three Ships, which is an absolutely perfect Christmas story. It was in our library.

Beautiful movies – Spiritted Away - I saw this in a theater the first time. Backgrounds like watercolor paintings. Story of a young girl growing up and becoming more than she was.
Much Ado About Nothing - I once saw a bad production of Macbeth, and even a bad production was made tolerable by the great words of the Bard. This movie is both beautiful and well done.
Books - The Diskworld books by the late Terry Pratchett. Interestingly, when he describes his characters, very few of them are good looking. Yet the humanity of them shines through in the stories. Just sad that two story arcs will now never be finished – what happens after Vetenari (sp?) is no longer Patrician, and what happens to Carrot, who is probably the rightful king of Ank-Morpork.
Have to second (third?) the Father Brown stories. Also want to give a shout out to the 1972 TV series based on the books.

I second the recommendation of A Man for All Seasons.
My favorite novel is Watership Down, which has quickly become a classic.
