The most nasty thing I've seen on tv

To us, this is just a tiny example of why we do not watch television. Yes, tv feels like ‘company’ when you’re lonely, but is that the kind of company you want to keep? Yecch. Reading and walking and just plain hanging out with friends if and when you can are all far preferable, don’t you think? When I’m lonely or ill, a knockout book or a walk somewhere I haven’t been before brings that manic glee right back. (And I’m always happily surprised how many thoughts and ways there are I haven’t explored).

!
Yes, reading is something that I like to do. So, I think that I will spend my evenings curled up with a good book.🙂

All Catholics need to be aware that most television programs are unGodly. A line needs to be drawn by each of us. Instead of wondering about what’s coming next, we should all politely complain to the TV stations themselves, to the advertisers, and to our representatives in the government. We should participate in the cultural life of this country, not by force but by our sincere expression of concern. We need to say “enough is enough.”

If you were put in charge of a cultural exchange program for the United States, what would you show to people in other countries? Desperate Housewives? Grey’s Anatomy? Brothers and Sisters? Another movie about an attractive unmarried couple living together?

God bless,
Ed

But you’ve got to admit there’s a real Jewish hatred for the Church of God.
Some people choose to ignore this.
Ever notice how current movies always show priests or the Church in a bad light? But never rabbis or synagogues. Gee, I wonder why?

The reality is, is that the movers and shakers in Hollywood, the elite, the men in power who own and monopolize the networks are mostly all Jewish…those who denounce Christ, who think He was a lie. How can you expect good, wholesome, family entertainment from those who think Jesus was a myth? Wake up people. You can’t. That’s why you see on TV what you see.
“Where were you when the media was conglomerating all over the place…there is practically NO local(ly controlled) media left.”
And guess who has monopolized it? Guess who owns it?
The tone of your message, sir…is quite disturbing. Perhaps you’d like to be the censor of all media? To WHOM do we give that power?
Give the power to sensor the media to Christians, not Jews. Then all the smut will disappear. The tone of my message is the Truth. No different from how Jesus came down on the Pharisees and Sannhedrin for their godless ways. No different at all.

That’s what it’s there for. In no way am I defending this channel or the content this channel provides, but as the posted stated, the show was on in the middle of the night. A lot of channels on Cable can play this sort of stuff during the evening and overnight hours. It’s the parents job to make sure certain channels are not viewed by their children.

And remember, this channel FUSE is a cable channel and you need either cable or satellite to get it. No one is forcing you to pay for Cable or Satellite.

And to these people who like to bad mouth television; television is no worse then the internet. A computer can rot your brain as much as a computer can.
Honestly, it does not matter if the show is on at midnight or 3:00 in the morning, there are commercials for these shows on constantly. And they are on channels that kids watch during the day. True, it is the parent’s job to monitor what is viewed by children, but what can you do when you are doing this and you are away while they are watching a “kid-friendly station” that shows this kind of filth? How do you shelter your teenagers from seeing this filth that comes out? I mean look at the Hardees commericials as of late…Paris Hilton…the new one with the lady in her PJs looking seductively at a hamburger, a frickin’ hamburger. This is insane! And you think that it is the parents that take the brunt of the responsibility? Mo matter how hard we, as parents try to raise our kids in good Catholic homes with virtues and morals we are bombarded with this all around. TV, computer, radio, advertisements. What is the answer? I honestly wish I knew. I am not one to say throw out the TV and computer and everything will be fine. I just think that at some point people need to take responsibility for their actions and be held accountable for them. This includes advertisers and those who produce television shows.

Yeah, that’s pretty foul. What kind of channel is Fuse TV anyway, is it like Spike TV? That kind of stuff seriously needs to stay on the internet where it’s much easier to avoid.

That is horrible. I don’t think I have FUSE TV thank heavens.

I watched half a show on MTV - it was on at either 10 or 11 I can’t remember - it was called Women to Women, Bicurious. It was a documentary about women going on a vacation to the Hedonism resort to explore their bisexual curiosities. Their husbands were with them. I couldn’t quite believe it - husbands said they thought it would make their marriages stronger because they were supporting their wives. I only watched half because I really didn’t want to “see” what they were showing after a certain point in the program, it was getting rather explicit.

Now this show was on when I’m sure a lot of high schoolers are tuning in! What if they are at a friends house watching that? You don’t only have to worry about your own TV.

.

Now, back to topic:

Fuse is a music channel, much like MTV. At one time, it was a pretty interesting channel. It had some foreign videos on it and corny humor. It was obviously very cheaply made. Then they changed their name and started to compete with MTV. Now it has become a much more raunchy channel.

Sometimes I watch the International Music Feed(IMF) because they are pretty straight forward music. I imagine that it will change in time to become more like MTV also.😦

@archangel and bones:
The thing is that Jewish people have learned to adapt to survive in the world because the rest of us were persecuting them for so long. Don’t get all Jewish conspiracy on us, please.

.
.

Orthodox and Conservative Jewish people have the same basic moral values as we do.

Because Judaism is both an ethnicity and a religion, a person can never practice their faith and still be considered Jewish. I would imagine that most Jewish people in Hollywood are secular Jews, not religious ones.

Even the commercial for the V-Chip was terrible. It was advertised all over cable, during primetime and during the day talking about “blocking what your children watched” but it had a dominatrix in it. Completely inappropriate. It embarassed me and I’m an adult. Um, how are you supposed to program a V-chip to block tv advertisements?
What about those awful Girls Gone Wild infomercials that are on all night? You can’t ignore them–they are on so many channels you see them even when you are just flipping through the stations.

I don’t consider myself a prude or an alarmist, but I am both offended and horrified by the direction the world is taking. Multimedia receives a large part of the blame.

The Internet is great fun and almost mind boggling to me. I love that I can get any type of information in a split second. But it just seems to me that the producers of multimedia gadgets want us all to be on the Internet all day, talk on our cell phone all day, take pictures all day, or listen to music and watch movies all day. Every new piece of technology is geared for this type of usage. We are being dumbed down at a staggering rate.

Couple all of the multimedia outlets and gadgets with the abundance of sexual images and inuendo and we have a world that is rapidly turning into Sodom.

It truly saddens me. Am I just speaking hyperbole?

Have you checked out Parents TV? We have contributed to them for years. They go after the sponsors of these programs. I’m not sure if that is includes cable. It’s an uphill battle but we can’t give up the fight. Our childrens souls are at stake.

Satan walks the earth

No, you are not speaking hyperbole. Look at the 10 Commandments and look at the TV shows. For network, I think ABC is the worst.

Grey’s Anatomy - Lead character picks up men for sex, drinks tequila when depressed.

Desperate Housewives - Scheming, manipulative, selfish.

Brothers and Sisters - Take Sally Field (who starred as the Flying Nun in the 1960s) and put her in our current world. She has a large family. Having sex without marriage is shown as what everybody does. One married sibling is not getting enough sex in her marriage. Gay marriage is also put in a positive light.

This is called Entertainment? It’s painful to see these people led around by their flesh. Sally Field has an encounter with an old friend that goes back to what appears to be one of only two things that are memorable about the 1960s. They smoke marijuana and get busted. The kids have to spring mom from jail. And the other is sex, when Sally has a non-married fling with a man after her husband dies.

I suggest taking up art, reading, knitting, another productive hobby or just spending more time say, playing a game with your family. Don’t let the box take away precious time from the people around you.

God bless,
Ed

I don’t recall saying I watch these programs. My busy life does not include watching the box. I gave that up years ago when I started my own Company. I was only suggesting others might be interested in checking out the Parents TV site. Most of the programs you listed I have never heard of.

Peace be with you

I just discovered that I have Fuse on my satellite programming. As you can tell, it isn’t on our TV very often.

FYI, keep an eye on Nickelodeon as well. There is a show on there where two girls are sexually involved. My neice said to her mom, “eww, two girls are kissing!” … She’s only 6.

While we all have the option of changing the channel, or turning it off, we need to be aware that sometimes a show sneaks under the radar.

I am posting this to warn parents. A lot of us don’t know what type of shows are shown late at night on FuseTV. The following is very sick and disturbing, but it is not an exaggeration. I really did see this on Fuse.

Since my hubby left for Afghanistan, I’ve had a horrible time sleeping. So, I lay on the couch late at night and flip aimless through the channels.

As I was going through the channels, I came across a woman in a skimpy bikini who was standing in front of a dog. I stopped because the dog looked vaguely like my brother’s boxer(or at least to my sleep deprived mind it did) I was curious about the dog.

The woman began to encourage the dog to smell and lick on her bikini. Surprised, I looked at the channel. I couldn’t help wonder if there was some kind of sick porn that had accidentaly shown up on regular cable.

It was fuse and the show was RadGirls.

The young lady, apparently, had on a meat bikini(I’m not making this up) I turned the channel quickly.

What the flip is going on here? Have we dropped so low in our society that boderline beastiality is now being shown on cable tv? I really am one of those people who think that if you don’t like something, you should get up and turn the channel. But this was sick. I mean who ever would this appeal to?

For the first time in my life I want to complain about a show. But i don’t know who to complain to or even if it would work. So, I am going to warn parents that you might want to block this channel
Bleck…I heard about this…I didn’t see it, but they were talking about it on the local news. It’s frightening to me what the networks will do for ratings.

And how low men and women will degrade themselves for money.😦

i am pretty certain that the company viacom which controls mtv also owns nickelodeon.

my kids love nick…what show is this???

Your’e the second person to mention this incident on a post. Another thread I was reading today alluded to this exact same stunt. Ug.

We’ve been TV free (DVDs only) for 3 years now. Whenever my husband gets that look in his eyes around the start of football season, I consider buying him gift certificates to Buffalo Wild Wings so he can go watch it there. 😉

My in-laws had “America’s Funniest Videos” on the other day ( blech, I know, but this was a step up from the usual CSI episodes on in front of the children), and there was a commercial for some anti-itch yeast infection medicine (sorry). My 4 year old then proceeded to repeat the “say goodbye to feminine itch” line for about six minutes. Then, of course, she asked me what that meant. At least it wasn’t the “mama, what’s erectile dysfunction?” one that comes along with the Viagra commercials.

Honestly, I don’t know why people even keep TV around anymore- it’s all so depressing.

OP, my prayers are with you during this time of separation from your husband.
Oh no, that’s horrible about your 4 year old repeating that line! That could be very embarassing if she remembered it and started saying it after Mass or some other public place!

By the way, I enjoy watching tapes of AFV–we fast forward the commercials 😉 We show the animal sections to our 2 year old, and he loves them! We don’t have TV service, but my parents tape it and let us borrow them.

By the way, I’m praying for your new little one to make his/her appearance soon! I know what it’s like to go past your due date–my kids were 12 and 8 days late, both induced.

Nickelodeon Is an MTV affiliate so you do have to becareful with their commercials. The show she is probably talking about is degrassi: the next generation. The show deals mostly with teen angst, sexuality, and homosexuality.

**Rosie to talk teen issues with Stars of Degrassi, Spring Awakening!
**Thursday, April 26, 2007

Degrassi is one of the hottest teen shows on television, often praised for the way it deals with controversial issues. Spring Awakening is the smash-hit Broadway musical adaptation of an 1891 play that, for a time, was banned for addressing such bold topics as teen sexuality and violence.

Now, cast-members from Degrassi and Spring Awakening come together for one of the hottest tickets of the year – a town-hall discussion about the issues facing today’s teens, to take place at Eugene O’Neill Theatre in midtown Manhattan on Monday, April 30th. Moderating the discussion will be none other than everyone’s favourite headline-maker, Rosie O’Donnell!

While we yet don’t have information as to which of the Spring Awakening cast is set to appear, we do know that Lauren Collins, Stacey Farber, Shane Kippel, and Aubrey Graham are scheduled to be among the Degrassi cast on the panel.

The town hall will be recorded for streaming on AOL Red; as soon as we have information on when and where those streams are available, we’ll post the information right here!

Kinda say it all don’t ya’ think.🤷

This sounds awful!!! Makes me glad we don’t have cable or dish, regular tv is bad enough!! This sounds worse than the Hardee’s commercials, and those are pretty raunchy in my opinion!!

Have you seen them? There was the Paris Hilton one years ago. And now there is a sleezy chic in her pj’s prancing around sexually and eating a burger…how about commercials with a family in them??? I refuse to go to Hardee’s because of it.
Have you let Hardees know about it? Just curious. One morning before work/school, a Dairy Queen commercial came on…you know the ones with the lady ice cream and the male waffle bowl…the one that came on was the one where lady comes home to a trail of pieces of waffle to the bedroom. My daughter saw this commercial, frowned at it and said…“That’s not appropriate.” I’m not positive I’ll hear anything, but I’ve got a letter to DQ corporate.
