If not, then why has it become so integral to Christian belief that it is being taught so fervently by these “teachers of the Church”?

A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.

There’s nothing in the Koran stopping this, therefore it’s considered “Islamic” by some. Sure, there are some who think otherwise, but the Koran is so peferct that one can make argument either way - the Koran alone is not sufficient.

I think we will be simply stunned by the extent of God’s mercy. I think that we will see people in heaven who, with our earthly sinful judgemental eyes, we never thought would be there. I think that part of our purification is becoming “Love” like God so that we embrace those that we, on earth, deemed unworthy.

In the prodigal son, the father actively watched and waited for his son to return. At the first, very distant glimpse of his son, the father RAN out to greet him. Based on this, I think that if there is “life” in the soul of the wayward Muslim (or buddhist, hindu, athiest, agnostic, Catholic, protestant, etc) our Father will do the rest.

If we, who are so sinful and judgemental, love our children and do everything we can for them, how can we expect any less from our Father.

I’d like him to show the Koranic verses that over-rule Mut’a (Temporary Marriage)

There’s one Koranic verse Sunni believe does this…

The Qur’an, chapter 4 (An-Nisa), verse 24: “ And (also forbidden are) all married women except those whom your right hands possess (this is) Allah’s ordinance to you,
and lawful for you are (all women) besides those, provided that you seek (them) with your property, taking (them) in marriage not committing fornication.
Then as to those whom you profit by, give them their dowries as appointed; and there is no blame on you about what you mutually agree after what is appointed; surely Allah is Knowing, Wise.

It doesn’t actually say this, but Sunni simply have the opinion that Mut’a is against Islam, and therefore prohibted by this verse.

That is, the verse itself doesn’t say it’s wrong, explicitly, it takes some Moslems ‘opinion’ that this is so. Shi’a Moslems of course reject this BECAUSE it does not explicitly rule out Mut’a.

Thus the Koran is not all sufficient. hamba2han hoped to point score against the Bible on this matter and has in fact now left the discussion - for the last several posts of his have avoided answering my questions

And so admittedly there’s a stream of thought that accepts this verse as abrogating Mut’a, it’s not clear-cut.

And Female Genital Mutilation is also not expressly forbidden either.

Do you think God will have mercy of the Catholics souls (or others) who “don’t know any better” or “have been brain washed and have misconception into thinking the wrong thing?”

My personal feelings are HE will forgive those who have been misled and have lived a good life of searching for the truth; but had /has had blocks in their way to find it.
