In the past few months, I’ve been growing closer to one of my male friends. He’s a great guy, very devout and caring. A few weeks ago, as a result of some things that he’s said during our conversations (which typically occur over the phone as we’re not in the same state right now), I’ve come to suspect that he has feelings for me. I, on the other hand, didn’t see him as anything more than a friend. He’ll be visiting soon, so I wasn’t sure what I should do/say when he comes because of the difference in how I think we feel about each other. Recently, however, I’ve felt that God wants me to love him. I’m not sure, though, if this love should be the love between a husband and wife, friends, or brother and sister. I know that God’s timing is perfect and that He will reveal all to me in His perfect timing, but I was wondering if anyone else has felt God leading them toward a particular person that they’ve never thought of in that way? And if so, did you experience a change of heart toward that person (regardless of the type of relationship you felt God wanted you two to have)?

Looking back into “butterfly times” I have been in most cases the one, who wanted to impose myself on the girl. In that time of course I saw only girls, not women.

Today I consider myself a man, not a boy anymore. All the girls I wanted never expected me to ask them out. They were surprised. “How can you ask me such thing, where on the other side you are such an eager altar server and prayerful boy?”

We, the girls as well as myself, didn’t grow up with the teaching to put marriage together with holiness. I grew up with the meaning of marriage being focused on sex and sex not belonging to holiness.

Anyway, my calling was always reflecting in the face of the girls I met. God’s will has been revealed to me in the relationships I had. I regret my sins, but not the lessons I learned through them.

One reason for them to reject me was that they knew I would become a priest or religious and it was quite obvious.

I believe, whole heartedly, that to be there is a huge difference between friendship, lust and soul mates.

If you’ve just friendship then you’re just friends, just attraction its only lust and to be soul mates you need attraction and friendship!

The second I met my husband I knew we would be together forever, and I think that’s the way Gods mystery works. I don’t believe you can look for feelings if they’re not there, perhaps that’s considered settling?

When you meet your future spouse you’ll KNOW, don’t force feelings, just trust!!

It IS a mystery–God’s role in bringing two people together to fall in love. I don’t know if He forces anyone to do such a thing, but He may be trying to get your attention about this guy. I think the only way to know for sure is to pray! I read a book where a woman realized God was leading her to enter a courtship with a friend because He was pursuing her and was patient with her as she rejected him. He wrote a chapter and described that he felt led by God to persevere even when she kept saying no. The author says when she asked God if this was what He wanted, everything happened quickly. Good luck with everything!

It is a mystery
