It’s not a given that all Catholics go to heaven.
As we see in the government, many call themselves Catholics but really are the world’s worst sinners.
This refers also to how it is very difficult to fully follow Christ in your life. You’re always afraid of what people will think of you, etc. As in you should never be afraid of saying that you try to live for the glory of God, even to non-catholics or anti-catholics. As in people will mock you for it.
As a Catholic (I’m 17) it’s really trying to have to come in contact with people who hate the Church. I’ve met a few in my life and challenging them has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done! And some of the attacks have come from Catholics themselves, and are often based on ignorance, or being taught lies by other people or society. For example my mom of nearly fifty didn’t know anything about indulgences, and only recently did I explain them to her. And then I had to explain them to my little sister as well since her and my mom had talked about them.
And also remember that many Protestants, seemingly well-intentioned, will tell lies about the the Church. Such as in ninth grade a girl asked me, why do southern baptists think Catholics aren’t Christians? And on the forums recently was a thread about one very anti-catholic website that had an article titled “hail Mary, hail satan.” And I wanted to say, do you believe Mary existed? do you believe she was Jesus’s mother? do you realize that you’re insulting Jesus’s MOTHER?
Also one objection that sounds a lot like yours is why does the Church have so much money? And an easy answer is very personal: I have little money myself, rather I have love for God. So I will give from what small amounts of money I have to the Church, and hope that others like me do as well, so that all of us rich in spirit can come to worship God in a beautiful church worthy of His prescence. As in rather than giving a dollar to each person in the world(or whatever it is…), it is better that the Church build magnificent cathedrals for everybody to use for hundreds, if not a thousand, years.
Also Jesus did not mean for His Church to be one of ten people. He wants all of us to have the oppurtunity to come to Him. Many reject Him, and then those who accept Him have to be tested by the many who hate us. The point is that the Church must be full of the strong and devout, not the flimsy and uncaring.
