Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On Saturdays, hopefully, we especially think of Mary, our Mother. St. Faustina wrote of Mary’s nearness in her “Diary”:
May 1, 1937 - Today I felt the nearness of my Mother, my heavenly mother, although before every Holy Communion I earnestly ask the Mother of God to help me prepare my soul for the coming of her Son, and I clearly feel her protection over me. I entreat her to be so gracious as to enkindle in me the fire of God’s love, such as burned in her own pure heart at the time of the Incarnation of the Word of God.
We who have already consecrated ourselves to Jesus through Mary can especially identify with praying to Mary before receiving Holy Communion, as St. Louis de Montfort recommends in his little treatise, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. By God’s grace may we all grow nearer to Mary today, and everyday, as all the saints before us have done, in imitation of Jesus who honored His Mother and continues to honor her in heaven.
