Anyone out there witness something extra beautiful during Friday’s track and field event when Ethiopia’s Meseret Defar crossed the finish line to claim gold?

My heart leapt when she pulled out a religious image of the Blessed Virgin and Child to show to the cameras before breaking down and sobbing into the picture!

I have also seen many cross themselves which takes courage, but to do what she did was extra special!

May the Almighty God pour out His Blessings and Peace on Meseret Defar and may we all have her courage to proclaim our faith in public. We ask this in Jesus’ Holy Name. Amen.

I didn’t see it, because I have no interest in the Olympics. But that sounds Beautiful.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the runners in the Olympics are the most overtly religious? I’ve seen soooo many runners do the Sign of the Cross, but I don’t see gymnasts or beach volleyball players doing that.
