Who do you think would be the best man we could have as pope from the perspective of strenghtening the traditionalist movement.

Realistic answers only please (you know what I mean 😃

I have no clue…I just do not follow church politics closely, but would like to read more about some of the priests who could be on deck.

I don’t start thinking about the next pope until after the present one has been called home.

Cardinal Arinze ( Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments).

Bp. Fellay. can be the pope and Bp. Williamson can be the Cardinal Secretary. 😃

That said, God bless B16, many years to him! He’s a good Holy Father. I love him.

I kind of agree that Bishop Fellay would be great but to be realistic I would prefer Abp Burke. Some of the others mentioned would be great too, but HE Abp Burke is my choice.

His Excellency, Archbishop (soon to be Cardinal, Deo gratias) Raymond Burke.

I can think of absolutely no one in the current world hierarchy who would make a better pick. Bishop Fellay would also be nice, but that’s hardly a practical option.

Cardinal Arinze ( Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments).
Isnt Cardinal Arinze a bit too old now? He was more eligible in the 2005 conclave

The best solution I see would be H.E. Juan Luis card Cipriani, the primatus of Peru.

Someone who hasn’t even been conceived yet- I hope Benedict XVI is pope for a LONG time. However long we have him though, he will always be a special pope to me.

I would hope a pope would be respectful of tradition and want to strengthen it, but I would hope he would take things into perspective. There are so many people who are angry at God, or who deny His existence- they have abandoned the Faith (or were never a part of it to begin with), and may even attack it. I hope a pope would recognize that bringing them into the fold is more important than polishing those who are already in it. When you have a collection of nice brass objects that need polishing, do you ignore the most tarnished ones and just touch up the nicer ones? No- you polish the most tarnished ones, while at the same time making sure that you are taking good care of the nicer ones. Remember the parable of the lost sheep- when the shepherd left the 99 sheep to find the one that was lost.

The next Pope will be the one of the Holy Spirit’s choosing, and the particular reason He will choose him is His business, our opinions and perspectives notwithstanding. This is about the most realistic answer you can get, because it is God’s Will, not ours, that matters.

Hopefully, we will have a pope who is most concerned about governing the Church in the best possible manner for the salvation of the souls of the world not for such partisan objectives as "strenghtening the traditionalist movement."

I figure you’re joking but… oy vey. Please don’t go there. 😦
Hear Hear !
I agree, it is absurd to fathom H.E. Williamson being Cardinal Secretary ! Better he be punished for his antics and handed the mess in L.A. to clean up for penance after M.H. Mahoney retires.

But yea, I guess we could live with H.E. Fellay being pope after the initial culture shock. 😃

That’s what I thought! 🙂 I would love to see an African Pope, not that there is anything wrong with people of other ethnicities of course!

You know what, I WAS thinking that, really–no kidding you read my mind. But Fellay’s gonna need the moral support. He will! 🙂 It’s a jungle out there in Rome, you know.

How about this: Bp Fellay can be B16’s Cardinal Secretary, and Bp Williamson can have the city of the angels. And Boom! They won’t know what hit them.
