“Humanist” and “chaplain” - all in the same phrase? Sounds very contradicting to me!

It’s an interesting article and concept. I don’t find it terribly scary – certainly not as scary as religious fanatics who believe their god wants them to kill everyone who doesn’t adhere to their religion – but my father is an atheist, as was his father and my dad’s brother and sister. They would agree with the chaplain in the article that humanism is a:
“philosophy of life without supernaturalism that affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment aspiring to the greater good of humanity.”
My father is one of the kindest, most ethical and caring people I know. He routinely goes far out of his way to help other people whenever he can, and gives so much to charity that my mother, the Christian in the marriage, gets frustrated. My dad just can’t believe in the presence of God. I pray for his conversion, but I don’t know that it will happen before he dies.

At any rate, the irony is that I have known many humanists who display more Christian behavior than many Christians I know IRL and on the internet. We should pray for their conversion not only for their sake, but for ours – they would bring great compassion and energy into the church.

Only proves what I have always believed. Humanism is a religion in which the “gods” are other human beings:eek: .
Thus, they need to be placed under the same restrictions that society places Christians and Jews. Humanism is a mainstream religion and thus needs to be curbed also. Just think of how things would change if the religion of humanism was not PREACHED in our schools and news sources.👍
