The numbers of people in Islam

I know Islam claims to have 1.3 million people.
We all know that in Islam, they think the second you are born, your a muslim. Well, the question i raise is this, do they keep track of the numbers of people born into this world who are not baptised or ‘born’ into another religion and add these people to the numbers, without them knowing?

1.3 million? There are more than 1.3 million Muslims in the United States (a figure which is at least 1.5 million, anywhere up to 10 million… but anyway)

**1.3 billion **is the most recent figure I have heard, so your figure is off by a factor of 1000!

When you are talking about a population in the billions, I don’t think it’s significant to keep track of individuals who convert either into or out of Islam. I would imagine that the statistic comes from general population demographics in countries where Muslims make up a sizable portion of the population.

And this 1.3 billion statistic is very vague, very general, and recently only came up when it was publicized by the Vatican that Muslims outnumber Catholics.

well that figure comes from adding up the estimated number of people that live in predominantly Muslim countries such as Indonesia Saudi Arabia and Turkey. But the number also includes an estimated number of those people that have converted to Islam from other faiths. Oh yes they keep track of who leaves Islam sadly to say in most Muslim countries not only is someone who leaves Islam shunned by their family and community in many places like Saudi Arabia they often face the threat of death and sometimes they are killed for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity or something like that especially in places like Saudi Arabia.
