Here is the website of the Polish Natinal Catholic Church

It does not say that they are united with Rome, in any way the elect bishops for themselves

pncc.org/?page_id=6
Thanks for the link!

I found this history on the site:
**1984 ** Polish National Catholic Church begins dialogue
with the Roman Catholic Church – hopes to end animosity
between the two Churches and live in harmony with mutual
respect for each others traditions, teachings and practices.
**2005 ** Prime Bishop Nemkovich attends the funeral of Pope John Paul II at St. Peter’s
Basilica in Vatican City. He is greeted by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and
Cardinal Walter Kasper while in Rome.
It makes me wonder what sort of dialogue is going on and if there was ever a desire to come in communion again. It’s weird. Do all these splinter groups eventually want to be absorb back into the Church? Is that what Rome wants?

The Old Catholics are heretics who reject the First Vatican Council and its dogmatic teachings on Papal Primacy. They are also schismatics like the Eastern “Orthodox”, for both refuse communion with the Holy See. The fact that some of the Old Catholic priests have valid sacraments, does not mean that their church is valid, since the Eastern “Orthodox” also have valid priests and sacraments, but are still outside the Catholic Church due to their heresy and schism. One cannot under any circumstances attend the mass of a notoriously heretical sect, such as the Old Catholics.

Pope Pius IX, Graves ac diturnae (#4), March 23, 1875: “They [the faithful] should totally shun their religious celebrations, their buildings, and their chairs of pestilence which they have with impunity established to transmit the sacred teachings. They should shun their writings and all contact with them. They should not have any dealings or meetings with usurping priests and apostates from the faith who dare to exercise the duty of an ecclesiastical minister without possessing a legitimate mission or any jurisdiction.”

That has been the consensus so far. It didn’t need the sedevacantist support as that could be a distraction.

Christ wanted the unity, this was the most impiortant for Him, consequently Rome wants the unity.

From the hystory it is clear that the unity allows the diversity of the liturgies, even the diversity of the intermediate leadership, but requires the primacy of the Roman Pope.

In my opinion we should not read too much for the dialog, it does not mean the unity, only the way toward that. Any group which wants to join Rome have to accept the sacraments, the primacy of the Pope including the exclusive right to install bishops, and in our times the not actively homosexual male only priesthood. (in more normal times this later two condition is natural)

Your wording and implication here are confusing. I’m sure you don’t mean that the heterosexual male is excluded from the priesthood, whether inside or outside the Church.

This is chewing on the words. Straight male is the natural/normal candidate for the priesthood, but I am sure that if I write that priests shall be normal men, then somebody would protest in the name of the equal rights. Unfortunately we are living in a perverted world, where the natural is not natural anymore.

So that’s what is meant by sedevacantist! I was never sure what that was.
It comes from Sede Vacante - literally “empty chair” - and refers to the belief that the current Church is so far removed from orthodoxy that the Pope is not “really” the Pope, and thus the Chair of Peter is vacant. Some schismatics use this line of reasoning to argue that they, and not the Church, are the true heirs of the Apostles.

Well you should know that it takes one of a kind to spot another of the same kind. 😃
I have had to be very careful at times that my information was coming from loyal sources (I had fallen away for a time and so guard more carefully against both my previous laxity and extremism).

Others who have similar issues might appreciate knowing when information offered does not conform to sound Catholic teaching - especially when it claims to be.

Anyone posting links to and encouraging Catholics to read information on sedevacantism or posts that offend the Church will be banned without notice. If you have questions, please ask via PM.

Sorry. I didn’t define the term. TMC has it correct. The link is to a schismatic group. Therefore, (name removed by moderator)ut from them concerning the treatment of schismatic sects should be viewed with suspicion (even if it seems to be in agreement).

EDIT: seeing the above, I’ll just report it next time (I didn’t realize at the time it was a violation)

There is a youtube channel done by a former Old Catholic priest from my area, named Fr. Nathan. He has now joined the Antiochian Orthodox Church. I have a lot of respect for him, he does a lot of good for the community, and his videos are pretty good. He explains why he left the Old Catholic church.

The fruits of the Old Catholic church testify to its validity and Catholicity. If its fruits are not Catholic, then the church probably isn’t Catholic. 'nuff said.

That’s what they call themselves - the old Catholics.
I see.Its just a term that they like to refer to themselves.Actually any group could call themselves old Catholics or anything else for that matter.

Eastern “Orthodox?” You’re kidding right? This kind of thing is allowed on “Catholic” Answers forums?

“The fact that some of the Old Catholic priests have valid sacraments”
This would be true if they use an approved Catholic Mass or DL in the approved language. Is this the case?

The Old Catholic Churches in Europe came into getting as a aftereffect of the Pope’s affirmation to ascendancy above his own area of Rome – a affirmation which their actuality finer denies.
