I am not yet Catholic…I was raised in the Church of Christ, which is not an evangelical type church. My family thinks that I am crazy, but the step from CoC to Catholicism isn’t that big of a leap. CoC believes that communion imparts grace, baptism is essential for eternal life, and that faith without works is dead. These cannot be said of Protestant churchs. But enough of that. I have taken this question to several people: those of all Protestant denominations and have never been given a satisfactory answer. Mostly I am just told that “I don’t know of any Christian theologan who would say that the old law exists.” Please explain these scriptures to me:

Matt 5:18-20 - “I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Matt 19:16-19 - “Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,'and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Jesus seemed to be naming a few of the 10 to remind the man.)

Rom. 3:31 - “Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.”

We’ll start there. There are plenty more.

If, by the Old Law you mean the ten commandments then yes we still keep the ten commandments. The Catechism of the Catholic Church may be of a help to you here.
