Granted, I’m really late with this since that movie was released on June 6th of last year (2006) to go with the theme of the movie but I just now saw it the other night.
It really freaked me out. Usually I’m pretty good with scary movies but this one got me thinking.
Has anyone else seen it? If you’ve seen it, what did you think of it?

I’ve seen it as well as the original version some 30 years ago (starring Gregory Peck). I didn’t really think much of either of them. http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon13.gif
 
I found it to be one of the best “remakes” - stayed true to the original film.

As far as freaking me out, well no - it is a fairy tale just like “Men in Black” or “Harry Potter” - an escape for a bit, like a good Stephen King book.

I Like horror movies and don’t usually get upset. I might be jaded a bit though. Heck, I like Texas Chainsaw.😛

So, no I wasn’t freaked out. I didn’t think the movie was bad, although it didn’t live up to the original.

I can’t remember what year the original came out. I was a kid though, so maybe the seventies?
 
It was entertaining. I had more fun watching the reactions of people in the theatre, scared girls clinging to their boyfriends and screaming like banshees at the ‘scary’ parts.
I did find that the bit at the end with the pope made me sad…poor movie pope…
 
One thing I wonder is if this scenario truely exists, should we even try to prevent Armageadon or the End of Days or whatever the anti christ scenario is called. If there is supposed to be an anti christ and Jesus is supposed to return and defeat him, if we find out who this antichrist is, should we kill him in order to prevent the suffering or save the lives of millions? In my opinion if there is going to be an anti christ or an end of the world it is going to happen and it is part of God’s plan. Nothing we can do would be able to stop it and no amount of people to kill would prevent it. Also, what if we kill several wrong innocents in an effort to seek out the true anti christ.

I think I spent a good hour after I finished the movie wondering how probable the situation was. I know that anything is possible. Just don’t know what’s probable.

We must always fight injustice.

As far as killing the anitChrist, until he has done something wrong then we would be sinning to take his life. So, you could know that a person was the antiChrist but be unable morally to harm him. You couldn’t go back in time to kill Hitler as a youth either. That would be wrong.
 
I wanna see this film, but I’ll have to wait until an evening when the kids are in bed and Mrs. FightingFat is out! She no like scary movies!!!

I read Fr. Gabrielle Amorth’s An Exorcist’s Story about four weeks ago. I ordered it off Amazon, it turned up and I read the lot in about 2 hours…Then didn’t sleep for two nights!

Someone said you should pray before you embark on a scary thing like that, helps you keep it in context.

Anyway, the whole AntiChrist thing is something I think there is great danger of misunderstanding. What are the words of that song?

“God’s greatest work was done through the frailty of his son…”

Anything that tells us to kill someone is a bit dodgy IMO. When it happens, there will be people it effects, the people God wants there; the rest of us should concern ourselves with pray- praying that we are not put to the test seems like a good idea, but also to be lovely to one another. I think that’s a sure way to overcome the anti-Christ!

But in the case of Damien, where he clearly had done evil, would it then be morally permisable to kill him, the son of the devil. My opinion is that if this situation were to happen, only Jesus himself could come and destroy the anti christ and if we were to kill whoever the supposed antichrist would be, more bad things would happen and a new antichrist would appear and countless innocents would be murderes. Kind of like the innocents that were murdered in Bethlahem in Jesus’ time. Then that truly would be an antichrist and a repeat of history.
 
stupid movie. I personally think they should have made a movie about my refridgerator because it could be the antichrist! It keeps breaking down and food keeps rotting! I think it is possessed, everytime we get it fixed it must think “hmmm…I must break down again!”🙂 teh ebil!!
 
I didn’t like the remake of The Omen. The original was great, IMO, and I love that original series. Part 2 was pretty good too. Part 3 was not so good, but the end was good.

As long as you don’t take them seriously, and just for fun and an escape, there’s nothing wrong with them IMO. And they’re great for Halloween!
