not the ultrareligious ones. in my country the Philippines, which is 85% catholic, premarital sex is quite common.

Just because sin is “common” does not mean it is condoned by the Church. I spend a good deal of time each year in the Philippines, and it is the same as in the US - the faithful Catholics abstain from pre-marital sex and the unfaithful ones don’t.

I am not a different person in different settings. The person I am at home is the person I am with friends or at Mass, etc.

I don’t understand where you’re coming from on this one, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree. However, I am glad my spouse is the same person in different settings, too. That way I know WHO I married.

i think chaperoning the young who want to date to be married is very commendable. i do not think the young ones ought to be left on their own to date. this is the one and only thing i agree with with jw’s. the only thing. the young’s hormones rage, and they want to date and so on, but they need to be chaperoned, and if they are well educated in the faith, and have parents that are willing to chaperon them or a close family member, then that they are not likely to stray and end up in scandal or immorality. we need to diligently teach our children the morals of the church and help them stick to it in a loving way. they then pass these teachings and morals on to their children.

It would help if all the Christian churches out there would support chastity! It’s amazing how many people claim to be Christian and yet see nothing wrong with premarital sex.

I had a friend who won’t talk to me anymore because I wouldn’t agree to disagree with her view. She’s married now but claimed that her lifestyle before she was married didn’t hurt her any. And she goes to a Lutheran church up in Minnesota, so I have to assume that she’s never heard anything different from the pulpit?!!
