Hi,
My husband and I have been Christians for a little over 25 years. Our family (we have six children) belongs to a Protestant church that we’ve been part of for about 5 years.

I became a Catholic at the end of 2006. I attend Mass by myself and also church with my family. Most of the time it’s not a problem, but I am starting to feel kind of torn. The more I study the Faith the more I know Catholicism is the true basis of Christianity. My husband isn’t interested in learning about this, at least not now.

I am posting this to ask if there’s anyone else here who lives in a similar situation, and if so how do you deal with it.

Pray Thy will be done.

I became a Catholic after my children were nearly all grown. I didn’t expect them to become Catholic and I certainly didn’t expect my husband to change his way of thinking (he was a benevolent non-believer).

After 42 years of marriage, out of the blue, my husband decided that the Church was where he belonged. Miracles happen when you least expect them. Turn your family over to God. He is in charge.

Exactly. I have heard only God can change hearts, and in my own family that was the case. Pray for your husband. After attending a religious retreat in college, I started praying for my father, especially asking for the intercession of a certain saint. For my entire life he had been a non-practicing Christian, and the very next Easter, he became a Catholic. I think God more often answers our prayers for others than our prayers for ourselves!

My wife was Church of England when we got married and told me she ocul never become a catholic . 7 years later she crossed the Tiber. Be patient , ,live your faith and dont push. It will happen in God time

I converted in '97. I prayed for my husband at every Mass for years, and in 2005, he swam the Tiber as well!

Be the happiest walking talking example of Christian love in town. Your kids and DH will want what YOU have.

Exellent! Be the happiest walking talking example of Christian love.

It is the best advice given so far!

Trust in Jesus and trust in your family.
Trust that they are following the path that God has planned for them and when the time has come they will walk through the door.

Sometimes God allows those whom He loves to follow strange paths in order to give them the insight they need to be effective leaders for His Church.

Thanks so much for your replies. It’s very encouraging!!

Also the last post, about some people walking strange paths…this really encourages me about one of my older children. We’ve always believed she has a call on her life, and that is carrying us through some great difficulties with her. But God has all in His hand.

I pray and commit all of my family to Mary, and I pray God’s will be done. Thanks again to all of you! I guess I just needed the encouragement. Thank you.

I joke about being the winner of the game show Last Catholic Standing in my family…but slowly, slowly, slowly the tide may be turning…or not…Thy Will, Lord, not mine, be done.
