The subject of wearing jeans to Mass is being debated in another thread. I’d like to look at this from the other end.
Have you ever thought what someone was wearing seemed too dressy or too formal to be appropriate at Mass?
Now granted, we probably shouldn’t be quite so worried about what others are wearing but we are human.
I personally think that one’s dress might vary because of seasonal issues. That seems reasonable. The priest’s vestments are frequently more elaborate for some solemnities and Feast days. Such days probably call for ‘fancier’ clothing from the laity. People tend to dress better for Christmas and Easter than they might on other days of the year.
This seems reasonable to me.
