I have to disagree a bit with Copland3 on this one. I much prefer St. Cyprian’s treatise to St. Thomas’. For one thing the link to St. Thomas’ explanation is terribly presented as each line has to be scrolled horizontally to read. For another, his explanation, which is of course excellent, is more scholastically oriented (naturally) and less spiritually or even pastorally presented, as it is in St. Cyprian’s treatise. I also think St. Cyprian’s treatise on the Lord’s Prayer is far more memorable. (just my 2 cents) Here’s the link newadvent.org/fathers/050704.htm
As I noted elsewhere, St. Augustine urged any Christian (that was able) to read it and understand it. St Cyprian being a Bishop would naturally have a more pastoral approach too I suppose.

Has anyone tried the 1st link I gave? I was wondering if it was my server that was not working. As Ambrose said, St. Cyprian is another worth reading. So is St. Augustine bartleby.com/268/7/2.html
Though I am oviously a Patristic nut!
