At Mass this last Sunday, Father’s homily included his idea of the Our Father as a state of mind. This got my mind to thinking and I thought I’d share it with you all as a food for thought.
I like this idea and I’ve been turning over in my mind various concepts of how to apply it. I’m thinking of looking at it holistically; taking it into my heart and pondering the entirety of the Our Father. I was struck by an insight: Keep it in my heart, continually pondering it and applying the different points to life situations as they arise. Training my mind into a specific mind set.
Once I looked at it like that, A lot of spiritual ideas and ethical concepts from Sacred Scripture, Tradition and the writings of the saints clicked together into a whole system that supports the training and execution of the Our Father as a state of mind.
