I just need a clarification.

When Jesus said “give us this day our daily bread” was he making reference to the Eucharist or our daily ordinary food.

Thanks,

Both.

The word “daily” is more accurately translated as “supersubstantial”.

So I think both aspects are meant.

I think it refers to God’s providence in general. Give us what we need today. Don’t worry about tomorrow. See Matthew 6.

In The Crucified Rabbi, author Taylor Marshall, PhD argues for the Eucharist as the new manna which God gives to us daily.

The Greek word epiousios (usually translated “daily”) can be translated as “bread for the coming day.” I have always liked that a bit more because it speaks of God providing whatever we might need for the coming day. God coming to us … us coming to God … God coming in the final day …

I had a priest explain it to me this way. That basically we are asking God to give us what we need to get through that day.

If you want an excellent commentary on the Our Father you should read the book called Jesus Of Nazareth by Pope Benedict XVI.
