Isn’t that sad that counties arn’t producing enough children to continue their population, seriously eventually there will be no one but Catholics left, the rest of the population will contracept and abort themselves out of existance.

Check out the Population Reasearch Institute, founded by Fr. Marx. He does an excellent job dispelling myths with extensive and comprehesive footnotes.

There could be an overpopulation problem, but it’s certainly not happening in North America or Europe!!! (And especially not in Europe, where the birth rate is 1.x children per couple.)

What really worries me is the increasing Muslim population in Europe. I hope I’m wrong, but from my understanding the Europeans allow Muslim immigration because that’s the only way they get population growth and workers.

I’m betting the Muslims living in Europe have way more than 1.x children per family. Before long Muslims will take over what was historically Christian territory!!!

And since those countries are democratic the Muslims could end up electing officials who could very well change the laws to make the countries more in line with Islamic teaching

Poor resource management all across the globe is the key problem. Believe me, we’ve got pleny of land, and plenty of food. Remember that in the U.S. we pay people not to grow the full amount that they could because it could potentially destroy the market. Land use being an issue is such a joke I won’t even address it.

Are there too many people for the resource management we currently have in place? YES! The solution is to fix the management and corruption, though. When we contracept and abort, we make it that much more likely that the kinds of people who could solve this problem aren’t born.

I read somewhere that in 15 or 20 years or so, 70% of European wages would go to retirement and social programs, mostly due to the decrease in population. I would like to find the source of that info.

I agree with the comments that there is a population problem, but it’s an decrease in population, not over population. A statistic that was easy to figure out with on line info is that if everyone on the planet moved to TX, there would be almost 50% more area per capita than people currently have in Tokyo.

there is no overpopulation problem. there is an overconsumption problem and it is caused by the very people (those of us in the first world countries) who consume the lion’s share of the world’s resources and then blame to poor for their very existence and seek legal ways to conduct genocide against them, using the UN to do our dirty work.

I’m not sure how to take this… Technically, it is not our duty to feed the people of every third-world nation while their government/militaries do whatever they feel like. Governments are/should be in charge of taking care of their own people, instead of just themselves. Granted drug lords and other rich/fanaticals get in the way of some governments ability to do this, but the overconsumption in America is not stopping other countries from eating. Heck if we stopped paying farmers not to farm (I assume this is still the case, it was when I was a farm worker 20 or so years ago) we would have plenty to send to other countries. Please explain how the first world’s over consumption makes other countries seem over populated.

There is no overpopulation problem. In fact, there can never be one. God creates souls by a positive act of Will.

There can be no human life if God does not wish it. Every single person alive is alive because God wished it to be so.

Who am I to tell God that He created too many people?

Good comments everyone, could we hear from somebody who thinks there could be an overpopulation problem. Could they then tell us what moral theology they use to support the birth control effects from the overpopulation religion.

My further comments are:
We now desperately need people or our computers will have to take over maintaining the world.
I believe as some of you have suggested if we could not feed someone, God himself would send mana from heaven.
Does accepting overpopulation lead civilizations into birth control and sexual immorality. An ancient example probably was the Incas and the Aztecs who saw no possibility of their civilization having growth and then increase child sacrifice?

what overpopulation??!

i think giving in to the idea can lead to immorality, yes.

as for the aztecs, i don’t know much about their history so i can’t comment on that one. i’ll try to read up, though.

It seems that right now, the main problem with the social security system is that the baby boomers didn’t have enough kids.
