For people who go to Hell, will it be physically, psychologically or emotionally painful for them? Or any other type of pain?
Perhaps people will suffer spiritual pain. Am I right in saying that no one can know exactly what spiritual pain will be like unless they suffer it? I know spiritual pain is separation from God.
Maybe people in Hell will suffer spiritual pain alone and not any other type of pain. Tell me if I’m wrong.

At the last judgment, we will all get our bodies back, therefore, the damned will suffer in their bodies too. This is because we are both body and soul, we sinned with both body and soul, and both our body and soul need to be united with God in order to experience joy. The way I like to look at it is this: Our purpose of existence is to be with God. If we are not with God, we are basically pointless beings for all of eternity. Our bodies will be pointless, and our souls because both will lack what they were made for and the source of all goodness, therefore, we will suffer in both after the final judgment and resurrection of the bodies.

Hope this answers the question.

Take a look at Luke 16:24 for a first person account from someone in hell.

My understanding is that the suffering in hell is full and complete torture of the worst possible kind for all eternity, with no hope of any relief. That is, even after billions of years, you will not “become accustomed” to the pains, the tortures are ever new, and the immensity of your suffering inconceivable, in utter doom.

Knowing that the suffering will last for an eternity has got to be as bad as the physical pain itself.

I have on occasion had bouts of abdominal/chest pain that is beyond what I can imagine any kind of pain can surpass. These episoded typically do not last more than 2 hours, so knowing they will eventually cease gives me the stones to get through it.

I cannot imagine what it would be like to have eternal pain with the knowledge that it will never, ever let up.

Yes, because a loving God would do something like this to a poor soul who’s greatest flaw was being born to parents who believed the wrong holy book.

Methinks not.

The Catechism states that such souls do have a chance at Salvation.🙂

You’re right about the “loving God” part. But a soul in Hell is eternally separated from God, that is the source of their torture, not God. God is not doing this to them.
