If they are going tp play sophistry, tell them that they are playing sophistry.

I don’t think that they really realize what they are doing.

If Rome’s leadership is not Biblical, then neither is the Lutheran, Baptist or any church’s leadership.

Their worship is not biblical.

Their language translation is not Biblical.

They will be allowed only to use Hebrew when reading the Old Testament and Greek for the New Testament.

However, Matthew’s Gospel is not the original. Therefore the Greek is not the Bible.

Oh, can’t even use Old and New Testament as words.

Can’t even use the title to most of the books of the Bible.

They are sophists even if they do not know it.

Teach them that LOVE IS FIRST.

Tell them Jesus said so! Show them!

Love is greatest, tell them Paul said so. Show them.

Love is give life or “energeo” to faith, tell them Paul said so. Show them.

Tell them without love faith aint nothin’, tell them Paul said so. Show them.

They wont change their position… because Christ is the head of the body of Christ.
That is why they deny the authority of the Pope… all the Popes are just men… their writings are the writings of dead men… dust and ashes blowing in the wind, awaiting the ressurection.

Scripture the Word of God that goes forth from his mouth is the sole authority in all matters.

Anybody that discourages scripture does not believe the scriptures… is denying the word of God.

They do not believe the Gospel = unbeliever.

Any given pope can make his own interpretations… that in no way means God has revealed any truth to him.

There is no respect of persons with God

At best… your post is confusing.

[1] What is your authority for this declaration… it cannot be Scripture… for it is not found or even implied in Scripture

[2] The Catholic church “discourages” private interpretation… and so does the Scripture… The Bible … the book of the Catholic Church.

[3] who is “they”

Catholics should all profess

Sola Dei Verbum… we believe in Only The Word of God

The Christ-given advantage the Catholic Church has is this:

We receive the Word of God…
**
[1] from the Oral teachings (Traditions), of the Apostles, handed to their successors for safekeeping
**
[2] from those teachings, many were eventually written down, and some of those which were written were eventually canonized… that is, they were declared for you, for me, and for the whole of mankind to be the New Testament.
**
[3] from the teaching authority first authorized by Jesus Himself, and given {a} the sole authority to teach, and {b} the sole authority to empower others to teach the Truth.

What passage of Scripture are they saying prohibits or forbids the office of Peter’s successor and his leadership of the Church?

“Not Biblical” = Specifically prohibited in the Scriptures or found to be against the teaching of Scripture. It does not mean absent or not addressed specifically in the Scriptures.

Great Scriptures Buffalo,

Here’s another one:

(DRV) Act 20:28 Take heed to yourselves and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the Church of God which he hath purchased with his own blood.

With love,
George

They didn’t mention a specific passage of scripture.
Then the answer to their question must be “Against which Scripture passage?”

It’s not up to you to prove that the Office of the Successor of Peter is not prohibited in the Scriptures. But it’s up to them to show you where the Scriptures prohibit it.

how true…

As Catholics we need to avoid falling into the trap of

“…where in scripture is… ?”

That only conceeds the error that Scripture alone has all the answers.

That what we call “the Bible” contains, and only contains, writings inspired by the Holy Spirit - comes from the Oral Tradition. There is nothing specific in Scripture itself to support this idea. Whenever I point out this little fact, the silence becomes deafening. 😃
