âMy dog is bigger than yours!!âI went outside the Catholic Church to learn about the Holy Spirit. NonCatholics have a more substantial body of work on the workings of the Holy Spirit.
The authority Jesus gave for His Apostles is specific to them; the Apostles as well baptized people. Did they give the same authority Jesus gave them? As I recall, that authority was only specifically handed out to a few choice persons, not the whole lot of them. What authority did Jesus give His disciples?
Its all in the gospels.
Oh yes I do despise authority. Illegal authority. Communist authority, drug baron authority any criminal authority which was not appointed by God I despise and I am a good Catholic for doing it. Would you accept any command just because it came from authority? Satan has authority in hell, Do you expect that as a Catholic I submit to him?Well; if you truly âdespise authority,â then you are not a very good Catholic. :tsktsk:
I think that underneath all of that rough talk of yourâs here, there is a human being with a heart that seeks God and truth. I will look forward to hearing more from you.
I have been on this forum for over a year, so I donât really need to be reminded about the Catholic stand on authority, as it pertains to doctrine; however, this is not the biggest difference between Catholics and Protestants.
Interesting. Iâve only talked with mostly Benedictine Monks and Jesuit priests and varioius sisiters in my youth. I wanted to say Carmelite Nuns, but they were âŚCarmelites. But My first experience of talking to Franciscanâs was the end of 2006. I spoke with Fr. Vincent Serpa once about marrieage issues, convalidation. He was very nice to me and helpful. He is a dominican. But our parish has Franciscanâs runnning it. Iâm really drawn to their spiritualality. Not like most diocesan priests. Of course my friend from seminary called me today after trying to get in touch for so long. He is a priest now and rather admired for his spirituality. Heâs a good friend from my past.I have spoken with many priests and brothers I cant remember a specific franciscan?

Well; I wonât need any âlittle checklistâ but the first question I have is why do you call Hagee a âProtestant,â and use him as an example of one? He is obviously not even a Christian, let alone a Protestant. But anyways; your first posts here have indeed accused Protestants. They are here for everyone to read.Oh yes I do despise authority. We do not accuse the protestant church, the facts speak for themselves. They stole everything they have from the Catholic Church. Please now another point by point to show me that this did not happen. Who calls John Hagee the antiChrist? Which Catholic Church accuses protestants who believe of not being Christians? You canât get around this with a little check list that is supposed to dismiss history.
Good point the HS goes where He chooses not where we think He should.âMy dog is bigger than yours!!â
Last year, as my daughter was weighing college choices, one she considered was a wonderful little Benedictine school not too far from where we live. You drive onto that campus and you can feel the Holy Spirit. It is an incredible place. She also considered a Lutheran campus where you got the exact same feeling. I guess the HS goes where he chooses.

Again, read carefully: the authority was given to His Apostles, and in turn the Apostles conferred this authority to whomever they wish to confer it to; they did not just confer it on anyone, or else youâll have to argue that everyone they baptized they commissioned as well to preach. Obviously, this is not the case. Unless you have a better argument, then your one-sentence wonders do not work here.the authority was given to His disciples.
Are you a disciple?
I donât think you are being harsh, but right on the money.Iâm not going to spoon feed you bro. If you take issue with what I say itâs because you know the protestant church does not have the rock foundation that the HCC does. I site Hagee because he is a visible sign of protestantism, and because unlike so many protestants, I am loathe to deny the salvation of any who claim Christ as their Lord. I do not accept the authority of the Church Protestant but I do not deny them salvation.
The KJV is edited and therefore the curse of the revelation is in effect on it. Some overzealous protestants make the error of accusing the HCC, but protestantism itself is not some form of devil worship, it just lacks the authority, legitamacy, strength and long term experience to protect this world from the power of satan.
The protestants are just too new and scattered. they want power but have not done the hard things needed to attain it. If they disagree with strict policy of the Catholic Church, they kick it out. There is no station in a responsible adults life where one can get away with this. Protestantism is a beautiful but dangerous fairy tale. The Catholic Church offers an undefilable truth, the protestant church has an edited version of the Catholic Bible.
Itâs no fun being this harsh and it is unlikely to make me any freinds, but the truth of the Catholic Church is incontrovertable and no greater or even equal truth is offered by the protestants.
Saying that someone is ânot even Christian;â does not always constitute âdenying them salvation.â You & I would surely be agreed, that God has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. But Jesus did say to âjudge righteous judgment;â and if a ministry or individual is not Christian; it is our duty to say so.Iâm not going to spoon feed you bro. Sorry, but Jesus gave his authority to Peter to rule and guide the church, the Catholic church in his absence. There are 1.5 billion Catholics and 2500+ dioceses around the world. Donât you think that Jesus would want an authoritative figure to lead his sheep, his people in the Catholic church to avoid confusion and chaos as in other religions? I thank God for my pope, the successor of St. Peter, an unbroken link of popes, 265 of them from 2,000 years ago. Makes sense to me that the pope holds it all together, âthe glueâ. Otherwise, there would be much confusion and chaos.Jesus gave his authority to the church and the church are the believers - not a denomination. All who believed in Him (Jews at first) were the church. Believers are the church not Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran or any other church. It is the true believers in Jesus Christ who have Him in their hearts.
my question to you is: according to you, who are the true believers? and where in the Bible according to you says that the church are the true believers? how do you determine the true believers?Jesus gave his authority to the church and the church are the believers - not a denomination. Well Schultzz, its good to see you are so attentive to language. Please continue to correct my spelling. Before I get the âLâ outta here I would like to point out that you have read but not learned. Is this an insult? Sure sounds like it to me.]
The Catholic Lord [What precisely do you mean by "Catholic Lord??]
told you not to offend or insult others, yet you call me a rabble rouser.
Oh yes, one more thing. The Church does indeed need me and others like me

My complaint and my only complaint is the with the protestant hate for and denial of the church, whats yours?** Not all Protestants deny our faith and not all those who deny our faith are Protestants.

to defend her. We have always been there, even when the peace lovers stayed safe at home. [He that lives by the sword?] And there is a difference between peace lover and peace maker. Seems as though you are neither.
âItâs easy to love those who love youâ. Are we not called to love one another the way He has loved us? Ever hear of âLove your enemy?â
I would make a good Protestant? Well thank you Protestant101. The errors you speak of can be kept to an absolute minimum if the Clergy and laity are truly faithful. We canât look into a Preists heart and tell if he believes. As Catholics, we have put our trust in God that he will guide the Church and not leave it to individuals to make their own determination. An organized Body of Christ can not exist on Earth if there is no central authority. Without an organized Body of Christ, satan runs amuck. He does anyway, even with the Catholic Church, which makes one point bloody obvious. We need you, we need all of you to become Catholics.Saying that someone is ânot even Christian;â does not always constitute âdenying them salvation.â You & I would surely be agreed, that God has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. At any rate; I do not see you as being âharsh;â just a bit cemented in your own personal opinions. One of the things I have learned as a Protestant, is that we can take our opinions to the Bible; and see what Godâs opinion is of them. This avoids the error of depending upon fallible men such as Priests, Bishops, Popes, Pastors, etc. You would make a good Protestant. You are not scared to stand up for what you believe in.![]()
A miracle-based faith is one of the biggest errors around.I would make a good Protestant? Well thank you Protestant101. We need you, we need all of you to become Catholics.
There are posts on this website about Eucharistic miracles happening in other Christian faiths. These should be seen as a demonstration of what the Catholic Church has been doing in one form or another for these last two thousand years. Well if the Holy Eucharist is real, why not join the Church that has the most experience with it.
Whatever disagreements the Protestants have with the Church should be re examined. Too many Protestants have damned the Church for all time and consider it unforgivable, It is unChristian to do this.
Youâre right no Adventist has ever been claimed to escape danger or be blessed miraculously for upholding the integrity of the Sabbath, right?A miracle-based faith is one of the biggest errors around.
