The Passion Is Central To Our Faith.

There are other elements that may be as important as well. But to meditate on the Passion seems of utmost importance. Yet, speaking for myself, probably didn’t have a real grasp of this.

This is what the Stations of the Cross are about, this is really, what the Eucharist is about <— So in that, one could say “obviously”. I’ve read in books, concentrate on the Crucifix. I’d also, add in, this is not an easy thing to do and I don’t mean to be talking theology and “winging it”. Does anyone have any (name removed by moderator)ut on this?
 
I’ve never prayed the stations of the cross consistently but you bring up a good point. Focusing on the passion of Christ might be the spiritual exercise I’m needing right now.
 
Our church usually has stations of the cross once a week during Lent. I might have to attend that this year…

Without the Cross there is no Resurrection or redemption for our sins, no way for man to enter into true communion with God in Heaven. Without the Cross, Jesus was just a wise prophet but not the Son of God, and we may as well be Jews, Muslims, or deists.
 
It is called after all, “the sacrifice of the Mass”, that seems to mean the Passion in part at least.

I guess, the first sorrowful mystery is the Agony of the Garden… I guess, technically, that leaves out the Last Supper but they seem rather related.

And of course, the Crucifix marks a focal point in almost all of our churches, if not all. Even many protestants, emphasizing the Resurrection imho still have Crosses.

I say the Rosary daily. Or at least try to. So every Tuesday & Friday I meditate on our Lords Passion.

I also try to say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily, so around 3 o’clock I’m also thinking about His Passion (not quite meditating).

But yes, His Passion is central to our Faith. I don’t know about y’all, but in my life I never understood how much someone loves me until I realize how much they have, or are willing to suffer for me. How far they will go to protect me… to save me. Even from myself.

Imo, that’s what God has revealed to us in His Passion. Agony, pain, humility, perseverance, abandonment. He didn’t have anything out.
