Who can deny that of all devotions, devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ is the most useful, the most tender, the most agreeable to God, one that gives the greatest consolation to sinners, and at the same time most powerfully enkindles loving souls? When is it that we receive so many blessings, if it be not from the Passion of Jesus Christ…When have we hope of pardon, courage against temptations, confidence that we shall go to Heaven? When are so many lights to know the turth, so many loving calls, so many spurrings to change our life, so many desires to give ourselves up to God, except from the Passion of Jesus Christ?

St. Bonaventure says there is no devotion more fitted for sanctifying a soul then meditation on the Passion of Jesus Christ; when he advises us to meditate every day upon the Passion, it would advance in the love of God. “If you would make progress, meditate daily on the Passion of the Lord; for nothing works such an entire sanctification in the soul, as the meditations of the Passin of Christ.” And before him, St. Augustine, said, that one tear shed in memory of the Passion is worth more than to fast weekly on bread and water for a year.
By St. Alphonsus de Liguori** The Holy Eucharist**

If you have never sat/knelt and meditated on the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ for several minutes, then start today. Find a crucifix, a quiet place, light a candle, and meditate.

Thank you, this is such a great reminder and something that I’ve been trying to do more. It is because of His Sorrowful Passion that we are saved and that we have access to the Father and are filled with the Holy Ghost. We get so distracted by other technicalities that we forget one of the key points of our holy religion.

Thank you Lord for dying for me.

Agreed! My favorite meditation is worshipping at Mass, immersed in the liturgy of the Eucharist, the one and only sacrifice that is acceptable to God. :amen:

I to feel, that medating on the Passion of Jesus Christ, help me, to were I feel like I,am their on GOOD FRIDAY,the day JESUS suffered.

I agree that meditating on the Passion of Christ is a wonderful devotion. Just studying a crucifix can teach us so much about what true love is. In .St. Francis’ Way of the Cross, his meditation for the Crucifixion is:

Behold Jesus crucified! Behold His wounds, received for love of you! His whole appearance betokens love: His head is bent to kiss you; His arms are extended to embrace you; His Heart is open to receive you. O superabundance of love, Jesus, the Son of God, dies upon the cross, that man may live and be delivered from everlasting death!

During Lent, I did the Stations of the Cross and the Seven Sorrows of Mary every day, which really helped me to focus on Christ’s Passion. I wasn’t able to do these devotions at Church every day, so I did them the “21st Century” way, with my ipod and Kindle.

I do believe the more we can relate to Christ’s Passion, the more strength we are given to overcome our sinful selves and the pull of the world.

I love the Litany of the Passion. It’s especially powerful on Good Friday.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccati mundi, miserere nobis.
