Hello all

Has anyone had any experience with the Passionists that they can relate to me? I’m somewhat attracted to them, at least at first glance, and may consider a vocation with them if they’ll have me.

Anything you can share is very much appreciated.

Peace of Christ,
NTG

I get their fundraising mailings. Today’s came with a giveaway rosary. And they have a headquarters house in our area. Unfortunately, I haven’t actually interacted with them enough to comment intelligently. But at least some of their devotional stuff seems solid. Check them out!

When I was in college, 50 years ago, I used to go to their retreat house in Connecticut each year. They were very good then, but that was preVII. Haven’t had occasion to have contact with them since then.

I have not interacted with any personally, but I do read the blog of one in Scotland that makes me rather fond of them from what I read… [Vultus Christi](Laus Deus)

I don’t know how the American province(s ?) are doing with vocations or what the climate of their community is here, but if that gentle priest’s blog is any indication, they seem to be holding their own in Europe.

Of course, don’t take our word for it… Go for a visit!

I have had several opportunities to make retreats and go to various other programs the Passionists host. I also try to make it to mass at their Monastery here on a somewhat regular basis. All I can say is the ones I know are all good holy men that take their ministry and charism seriously. They’re also fun and full of life and quite easy to get along with. You would do well to consider them and get to know their order more in depth.

I was a bridesmaid this past summer and went out to dinner with a Passionist because he was the bride’s uncle. He was a very attentive man, interested in conversation, and easygoing. It was a really enjoyable dinner. He had me recite Hopkins! And I asked him to hear my confession before the wedding, and he seemed so loving and understanding, too. He was great!!
