The crowd having gathered waited for the presentation. A wise old blind man sat upon the stage patiently waiting.
Then the old man made his way with his cane up to the podium. He checked the microphone and the crowd grew quiet.
He spoke, "I know that impatience and presumption is the very seed to every error we make. If you do not believe this, please patiently wait outside.” Then he sat back down and waited patiently.
15 minutes passed as he listened to the quiet murmurs then he approached the podium.
He spoke again, “I know that indeed we are all blind even though some see more than others. If you do not believe this, please see your way out into the darkness.”
Again, he sat down and waited. Another 15 minutes went by.
Returning to the podium, “I know that we each cannot completely understand reality. If you do not believe this, please understand that you do not belong here, please take your confidence out into the chaos outside.” Again, he returned to his chair.
Yet another 15 minutes passed.
Again, he stood up to the podium, “I know that none of us can do all that we would like to do. If you do not believe this, please go and do what you like." Again, he sat.
Another 15 minutes passed.
One more time, he approached the podium, “Is there anyone here?” Hearing no response, he made his way off the stage and back home.
Later that night as he sat in his comfortable chair, his wife asked him, “Why when you had the attention of so many people ready to hear what you had to say, did you tell them to go away?”
“Oh, I said all that the truly listening has need of hearing and I just thought it better to spend one hour seeing the Truth than spending a life time in false hope struggling against it.”
