The people of the old Eastern forum

I guess there’s not going to be much discussion of Orthodoxy in the new forum, and I’m going to miss the contributions of the old members. I was wondering if the orthodox contributors in the old forum would list what other forums they hang out in so we can re-connect. Or perhaps even set up a new yahoo group or something. For myself, I didn’t really hang out in any other Orthodox forum, but I’m happy to hear about other locations.

I hope the moderaters can leave this as a transition thread. I respect their right to run the forums how they like, although a bit more notice would have been nice.

You could check our orthodoxchristianity.net. I know many of them hang out there.
 
I’m a people of the old forum hehe. I’m still around. I like helping out and giving some help with the questions.

I’m pretty sure they got banned so I don’t know if they will be able to post, but I’d like to know this info too.

Can anyone tell me what was going on here! Where are all the old threats and were are all the members ???

What happened ?

Is it not allowed to write one’s opinion ? In a discussion there are different opninions that’s normal why are u so afraid that anyne will convert ?

Christians should not be softies ! Did u not read how even the church fathers were discussing and disputing !

What kind of moderation is that ? Do u really think your behavier is ok ?

It is not really a good discussion when only one opinion is accepted ! How intolerant ! I know some orthodox forums where catholics are allowed to say their opinion and no one is afraid of ?

I find the change quite disturbing. Were their arguments for Orthodoxy maybe hitting home too much? In my area the saying is a quarter of the members of Orthodox parishes are former Catholics.
 
I’ve now been told that many of the big contributors to the old forum like Father Ambrose have been banned from the site.

I’ve set up a Yahoo group, even if it is just a temporary way for the old guard to meet up again.

Did you check out the orthodox forum I mentioned? I have been told by one of the posters over there that Fr Ambrose is over there under a different name.

To be honest, I don’t miss it at all.

I can now ask questions without every single thread turning into a polemical free-for-all. I think CAF learned a valuable lesson in extending the ecumenical olive branch by opening the Eastern Forum and having it turn into a beachhead for polemical proselytizing in our own backyard.

Personally, I think orthodoxchristianity.net is a wonderful place for that kind of activity but not here on our own dime.
 
I just checked Fr. Ambrose’s profile. Nothing about being banned?🤷

U know it was interesting to discuss with catholics, eastern catholics, orthodox but what discussion should it be when only one opinion is allowed ?
But we can see here the true meaning of the actual ecumensim - are rcc really interested in union or it is only game ?
How can the pope pray with the EP and catholics do not even accept the opinion of the orthodox ?

I am a strict orthodox but I have many rcc friends and I have no problem whith their opinion !

This forum has become boring - before it was interesting !

BTW how can the memberrship be canceled ?

To put orthodox in the same box as sects and other confessions is even blasphemious and anti-Papal ( he puts not the orthodox in the same box). A church wich loves and praises the Trinity and the Theotokos and all the saints and fathers with such an great love to be the same as Jehovas witnesses is incrediible ! For me this is a sin against the Mostholy Mother of God and Allglorious Evervirgin Mary -to put Her Servants and children in the same box as Her enemy !

There is an entire listing of Orthodox posters who have been banned and subsequently have had there profiles altered to not list them as such…

I like your signature ! We orthodox are strict against the great sin of abortion ! May we could together open thte eyes of the blind to see how cruel it is to kill their own baby ( wich iss the greatest gift of God) in their belly ! Oh it is even hard to think. Thousend of this poor babys daily are killed !

May God forgive and enlighten as much as posibble- to see the horrible sin of Abortion !

At a recent Divine Liturgy (Byzantine Catholic in union with Rome), the priest gave an excellent homily where he stated that the womb is where Heaven and Earth meet. God allows the man and the woman to partake of His life-giving mysteries and the result of that union is a human child! How amazing is that?

Most of the regulars have not as far as I can tell.

Go look in the archives - banned members will be labeled as such. Most simply moved on to other venues.
