The period of tribulation?

Hey guys im new on here and Im also a new Catholic! I was recieved by The Church on August 10th. I finally found my way home. I was just speaking with a baptist and he spoke of the period of tribulation and I was kinda lost can someone explain this to me?

Warning: The following is opinion ONLY

“The Period Of Tribulation” is a reference to the Book of Revelations. For the last 2,000 years, someone, somewhere has declared this year or that year to be the start of the Period Of Tribulation. Candidates have included the start of the Crusades, the end of the Crusades, the coming of Martin Luther, and so on and so forth. My own vote would be for The Great War followed by The Spanish Flu Pandemic. Some baptists and other Christians regard the Tribulations as starting now or in the near future

I myself refuse to take any of this seriously. (Opinion) Only God The Father knows the date of The Last Judgement. I might change my mind if I look out my apartment window some day and see those Giant Locusts Decked Out As Horses For Battle, With Womens’ Hair And Lions’ Teeth. Until then, I;ll just scoop out my cats’ litter boxes daily and spoil them rotten
