…You have no idea what you talk about, do you?
What don’t you understand? He lived and died, an observant strictly orthodox jew. He was a super jew, thousands in his own time believed that he was the messiah. No one gets more jewish than that…

Jesus is the Messiah. He isn’t a rabbi or a Pharisee. Read the book “Jesus of Nazareth” 😉

Jesus had demands for purity not many could obey.

If he had not made a way for people to be reconciled to Him, then we would have another set of questions here and the so called total apostacy would never figure in.

Don’t toss out the bible with the bathwater, so to speak. We know what pharisees taught in his time, and he taught the same things. and he was called teacher but the word that was used is Rabbi.

When he said ‘do unto others what you would have done unto you’ his words were more polished in my oppinon, than another rabbi of his time who said something like ‘what you find hateful to yourself do not do to your neighbor.’

But, he was very original, in making the commandment of Leviticus 19:18 more strict by saying, ‘love thyne enemies’.

Again, I clearly indicated that this thread was supposed to be an alternate to the Biblical or historical discussions on apostasy. I would really like to see the perspective of someone who does think that the Church went corrupt or that an actual institution Church never existed. Anyone?

As we all know nearly every non-Catholic Christian religion exists due to the claim that the Church has gone corrupt
If by “corrupt” you mean “apostate,” as your post implies, then this is just plain false. The fact that you can say this with a straight face shows that you haven’t bothered to learn much about your separated brothers and sisters.

OK Air, I’m your guy to give you an answer. (i got distracted by Geo who seems to be posting crazy stuff) I couldn’t really say if a true church could commit apostasy, but the bible seems to indicate that a church could get so doctrinaly confused that it would no longer be a positive and God would remove His Spirit from it. Jesus said He would come against the church at Pergamos if they did not repent of their bad doctrine. This would indicate to me that even a true church can make serious errors. Also, the Galation church needed a trip to the wood shed for its law-keeping ways. Were these not both true churches? I don’t see anything in the bible that refers to a central authority except for the
Holy Spirit.
