There is a definite north/south divide. I had a great grandmother who was so Northern she dropped the word “the” entirely.

Where are they from??? I understand that sometimes people use incomplete sentences when a short phrase or 1-2 words can convey what they mean… but never using “to be” makes no sense to me.I had the same thought when I first heard it. Everyone (except my family, and other outsiders) speaks that way, college graduates included. When I have asked people about it, they shake it off and laugh like its nothing. It boggles the mind.
