Something that has been really beneficial for me in my walk with the Lord has been to take scripture and personalize it and offer it back to God in a prayer. That’s OK, right? This scripture is in today’s readings, and I have been blessed during the past few months to have the opportunity to share this personalized version of the verses with (1) my choir director and (2) a high school sophomore from the parish who cuts my grass. The high school kid carries it in his wallet!!! 👍

What do you think? Is this a good use of God’s Holy Word from a Catholic perspective? As a convert from a holiness denomination I certainly wouldn’t want to rock the boat in the real church of God 🙂

The Pilot of my Life

If God is your co-pilot, trade seats!

Ephesians 3:14-21 – italics modified to be a personal prayer.

14 For this reason *I *kneel before the Father,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
16 that he may grant *me *in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self,
17 and that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith; that I, rooted and grounded in love,
18 may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that I may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all I ask or imagine, by the power at work within me,
21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

I have no idea about the Catholic perspective, but as Your Friendly Neighborhood Methodist, I want to tell you that this really touched my heart!!
God bless.
