The Pink Ribbons linked to Planned Parenthood?

Someone, in another thread, mentioned that the SKG foundation donated money to Planned Parenthood. This struck me as odd, since why would money raised for one organization be given away to another organization?

According to the first link, the money is used to support breast cancer screening and treatment, which some PP facilities provide. The article goes on to say:
Mary Maschmeier, head of the antiabortion group Defenders of the Unborn, said that regardless of whether individual affiliates award grants to Planned Parenthood, all Komen groups are “guilty by association” of supporting abortion.
I wonder if this isn’t overreaching. If the SKG money is being used to fight breast cancer, does it matter which organization runs the program?

It sure does. First PP is no 1 provider of abortion. 2) abortion has a link to breast cancer. 3) Support of Planned (Klan) Parenthood is an immoral action and to support it continues to give it a false “ligitmacy”.

For example the NAZI Party ran soup kitchens, so did that make them an organization in which one should have supported?
It would be logical to ask how serious Komen can be about eradicating breast cancer when it maintains a relationship with an organization that is the single largest provider of abortion. This despite the fact that numerous studies, including one funded by the National Cancer Institute and directed by pro-abortion Dr. Janet Daling, have shown that having an abortion, especially as a teenager or before a woman carries her first pregnancy to term, increases breast cancer risk.

Dr. Joel Brind of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute (bcpinstitute.org) says only 5-10% of all breast cancer cases are felt to be caused by a breast cancer gene, meaning other causes, like abortion, are responsible for the rest.

Breast cancer rates are rising, particularly among young women. According to the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, they have risen more than 40% since abortion was legalized in 1973, when the lifetime risk for the average American woman developing breast cancer was one in 12. Now it is one in eight. However, breast cancer fundraising organizations, including Komen, still claim there is no relationship between abortion and breast cancer.

According to Karen Malec, of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer (abortionbreastcancer.com), the total number of deaths due to all cancers would have declined sooner if the government and the cancer establishment had been honest about the abortion-breast cancer link 20 years ago, when it was acknowledged by government scientists in the British journal Lancet.

Due to the Komen Foundation’s ongoing relationship with Planned Parenthood, both locally and nationally, Quad City Right to Life cannot recommend supporting Race for the Cure. Do not be fooled by Komen’s defense that 100% of the money granted to Planned Parenthood is used for its intended purpose of eradicating breast cancer. Being a recipient of grants gives a mask of legitimacy to Planned Parenthood, and it’s impossible to separate its killing business from less controversial services like cervical and breast cancer screening.

If you don’t want your money going to Planned Parenthood, please contact SBK Headquarters

and tell them you will not be able to support them until they end their relationship with Planned Parenthood.

I’m ashamed of you as christians! The Susan G. Komen foundation is the number one reason that deaths from Breast cancer have dropped from approximately 100,000 16 years ago to only 40,500 this year.

Don’t let the media sway you with their lies. If you had delt with the media as much as I have, you would realize that they hardly ever give the complete truth.

This foundation only uses their monies for Breast Cancer research and womens health. Not for abortion. You should read some of the articles from the founder. She is to be praised for helping to battle this disease.

Catholics do not believe in cooperating with evil. It is clear and proven without a doubt money moves from Komen to PP.

This was one the topics on EWTN radio’s Teresa Tomeo’s Catholic Connection radio show this morning, if you think it is a lie, e-mail Teresa and ask why she is spreading lies.
Contact Information: info@teresatomeo.com I was shocked to find find out, for I had been one of the Komen Mile of Men cheering on the runners. This year when they contacted me for support, I wrote a letter back and explained why I could no longer support them, they didn’t even answer my letter to dispute the PP connection.🤷

What would you think if you heard that they were paying the KKK to provide security services? Or the American Nazi Party?

Would it matter what organization runs the program?

Well maybe, just maybe, if the Komen foundation would acknowledge the proven link between abortion and breast cancer, the rate of breast cancer diagnoses wouldn’t be RISING right now. Now tell me what the “Christian” thing to do is? Acknowledge the deadly truth or deny deny deny?

The truth is that organization has A LOT of influence and if they would tell the truth about the research they have the ability to get the word out to people and people will take it seriously. Maybe if they would do their CHRISTIAN duty and tell the truth, there may just be less babies brutally murdered and less women being victimized and ending up developing a deadly disease.

Just maybe…

I never knew this until I read it on the other thread. I’m sick about it. While I’ve never really supported the organization, my Step Mother and her daughter are HUGE supporters of SGK. I have an email message ready to go to everyone in my address book - will have to send it when I’m not on company time because I have some work friends on the list. But it will be interesting to learn what Stepmom thinks about it, or if she will just be offended by my pointing it out. She is Catholic, but a bit liberal in some things.

How very sad - just when you think that someone is doing good in the world, to learn that they are also supporting evil. 😦

The people who should be ashamed are the scientists who allow their ideologies and career concerns to divert them from the pursuit of truth. The research is rock solid yet they refuse to alert women. 🤷

Can you provide a source for this claim?

If the research is rock solid, then I assume you won’t mind citing a few peer-reviewed, scientific studies that show some sort of link in humans.

Komen gives money to PP and the American Cancer Society to provide free to low cost mammograms. Says so on their site.

I would like to see one single location of planned parenthood that does not have alternative nearby breast screening. If this is the “justification” of the SGK foundation, it is bogus. The mention of reservations is hilarious. Has anyone ever heard of the Indian Health Service? They are on every reservation in America.

From what I read at this site, the same can be said of any women who become pregnant. We have always known that there is a relationship between estrogen and breast cancer. Nothing new there. This does not prove that an abortion specifically causes breast cancer. Only that the levels of estrogen in all pregnant women predispose them to a higher risk of having breast cancer.

I was listening to this show and the guest went up to three women in a booth that supported Susan Komen’s research and asked point blank “Did you know your research also supports abortion through planned parenthood.” One of the women said “YES”. The one woman who complained about us christians not supporting this cause. There are TONS of research that is 100% PRO-LIFE that help reduce breast cancer. Find out through Teresa Tomeo. She knows tons. Don’t think that just because one group is “successful” that means they are “good”. If we stop supporting Komen and start supporting pro-life researchers then we will do MORE GOOD! Trading an unborn life for research to save another is not good.

No, if you read the study, women who give birth have a reduced chance of breast cancer. And women who then nurse, have the lowest chance of all.

This is due to the immature nature of the breast cells. Breast cells only mature just before the end of pregnancy, when they begin producing colustrum.

If they are left in an interum state, such as after an abortion (or miscarriage) that produces a high risk of breast cancer, substantially higher than if the pregnancy went to term and the cells were allowed to mature.

wouldn’t it be nice to form some sort of fund as an alternative to the SGK foundation. one that doesnt support PP. or a fund promised to SGK if they would only cut all ties with PP. $ talks. if they thought they were losing $ because of it they may put away from the PP. what do u think?
