A good article. People must realize that the scientific community is not an infalliable source of information, and that many theories, hypotheses and interpretations are often/always based on and made to fit philosophically assumed background knowledge. Much of it being materialist and consensus driven.

The problem isn’t science; it’s scientism.

As a scientist, I get annoyed when people use science to investigate questions and issues that science was simply never intedned to investigate. Scientism, the belief that science is not only a path to all knowledge, but the only path to what can be termed knowledge,is simply without a basis in science. In these cases, MISuse is simply ABuse.

Blessings,

Gerry

Sort of like how Sola Scriptura is not found in the Bible? I love that, don’t you?

It really is a very illogical stance (scientism, I mean; so is Sola Scriptura, but that would be off-topic). For one thing, it denies miracles…as if by knowing the rules I can judge one way or another whether they can ever be suspended. And the same goes for its materialist monism. It’s a mental error worthy of the short bus to confuse “we restrict ourselves for purposes of our research to material explanations” and “there is not and never can be anything other than a material explanation.”
