Anyone else getting this weird disturbed feeling about the pope resigning and now getting a new one? And what do yall thinking about the 112th pope thing? Is there a possible upcoming persecution of the church? We seriously need to pray. Also (i hate asking this and only do this out of curious purposes) could a pope ever be the antichrist?? Im not implying that a pope ever was, but is it at all possible? And why?

Whoops wrong part of the forum to put this, move it please if needed.

That alleged prophecy is not even approved by the Church and is most probably a false prophecy. So no need to worry. Jesus said the day of judgment will come and no one knows when that will be only the Father in Heaven.

Yup. Although, as no one knows, it could be now.😉

Megan,

Do not chase these wackadoodle websites and conspiracy theories. Stick to solid Catholic teaching, websites, and official Church teaching.

Upcoming persecution? Haven’t we been persecuted for many many years?

Oh i know. Im not saying i believe in them. Just asking for opinions

Every blessed year since Our Lord died, in one way or another. Roman persecutions, crusades, heresy and schism, ‘enlightenment’, secularism, atheism, you name it, the attacks of the Evil One have been unceasing.

In Matthew 16 when Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom, He also said the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it! God always takes care of His church!

they are not worth opinions or discussion. promoting or giving them any credence (just by discussing them) will only lead to mindless worry and confusion when our thoughts should be on the beautiful gifts of our God

Stick with official Catholic websites and teaching, period.

I think we need a slightly more detailed explanation here.

Up until about 1590, the first 230 “prophecies” are fairly specific…for example “from a Castle on the Tiber”. After that point, however, when the prophecies became forward-looking, they also became considerably more vague (“wavy man” / “Lily and Rose”). Many of the post-1590 claims have been severely contorted in order to make them fit the appropriate Pope, referencing nothing more than a Papal coat of arms, or the coat of arms of a city the Pope once lived in, or…something.

Pope Benedict’s title was, according to the list, “De Gloria Olivine” (Of the Glory of the Olives). Consider, for a moment, all the potential “solutions” to such a label:
  • Anyone with Olive-colored skin
  • Anyone from a country particularly associated with a acculturation of olives
  • Anyone from Greece
  • Anyone particularly associated with Diplomacy
  • Anyone particularly associated with ecumenicism
A very broad-ranging selection, no? And yet, Benedict fits into none of these categories. So, what did we end up with as the final explanation? Benedict —> St. Benedict ----> Benedictine Order ----> An olive branch in the coat of arms.

It was as if someone desiring to support Barack Obama for President in 2008 had composed brief sayings on his 43 predecessors (“Man of great war” / “Son of the Past”), entered a particularly fitting description for Obama, then, for good measure, added a few dozen more.

Is it really so likely that a Bishop would be called to Rome, experience miraculous visions listing all the Popes to come, then deposit the list on a shelf inside the Vatican archives, which would only be re-discovered 400 years later?

My personal position is we’re good till the conversion of the Jews, when that happens then stuff just got real =)

Our Holy Father should cancel his resignation although it is canonically lawful. Our Holy Father should cancel his resignation although he is partially unhealthy. Our Holy Father should accept the fact of sickness or whatever reasons might be for the Glory of God.

Maybe, just maybe, his resignation IS for the Glory of God, by allowing for a younger more vigorous successor to take his place in what is becoming an ever more physically and mentally demanding vocation.

Our Holy Father should pray and reflect much - which he has done for some time now - and do what he believes is right - which he has done - and not what random internet posters like yourself who know nothing of the matter think he ought to do.

With all do respect, I would hope that a priest (I am assuming you are becasue of your username) would accept that what the Holy Father is doing is something that he has come to see as necessary because he was so moved by the Holy Spirit.

We should be rejoicing that our Holy Father is showing us how to “do” perfect & humble obedience to God.

an interesting perspective I saw in a Facebook page

"I think this is the perfect time for the Pope to retire. Just think the whole Church is going to be fasting and praying, this is very powerful. This is the perfect time for the Holy Spirit to move though the Church and make this Church even stronger than it is now!!! God is in control!" 😃

Pope Benedict in his inauguration itself had entrusted himself to Mary

“Dear brothers and sisters, after the great Pope John Paul II, the Cardinals have elected me, a simple, humble labourer in the vineyard of the Lord. The fact that the Lord knows how to work and to act even with insufficient instruments comforts me, and above all I entrust myself to your prayers. In the joy of the Risen Lord, confident of his unfailing help, let us move forward. The Lord will help us, and Mary, His Most Holy Mother, will be on our side. Thank you”

And he came with the news of resignation on the day of the 155th anniversary of the Lady of Lourdes which was yesterday

He started “tweeting” on 12/12/12 which is celebrated as the day of Our Lady Of Guadalupe

So we have to assume that Virgin Mary has been leading all through out his rule and bother not too much about whether it was right or wrong:thumbsup:

You seem to think the Holy Father didn’t pray about this a great deal. I don’t think God has given any of us more insight into this than He has given Pope Benedict.
