the pope

[mayra_hart]

one other issue concerning the pope needs to be clarified for most Evangelicals. It relates to the claim of papal infallibility. Catholics do not believe that the pope is perfect, or sinless, or even necessarily good, holy, wise, or nice. there have certainly been popes who have made foolish mistakes, enacted ruinous policies , or been bona fide scoundrels. I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you by publishing this request. Amen

i dunno but i’m asking if he is part of a hierarchy made by god does that mean he is in fact closer to god than everyone else on this earth?

The Pope’s mission is different from the rest of us, not that he is closer to God. I don’t know that anyone is closer to God than anyone else (I’m speaking of those within the Church.)

The Pope receives the Sacraments like everyone else, including Confession/Penance. Not all Popes are canonised Saints, and the salvation of some may be doutbful. I believe that Dante had some in Hell.
