My sister was watching TMZ last night when the host discussed how two major figures in the porn industry wanted to petition Congress for a bailout for the industry.

Is is true? Is the porn industry in trouble?

As someone who has struggles with porn, the demise of the industry might bring healing to a porn-riddled culture. Then again I am reminded of all the people who would lose their jobs should the industry collapse…but then again there would undoubtedly be employment available in another line of work…

Can someone clarify?

Who cares if people in the porn industry lose their jobs? This industry is extreamily abusive to women.

A porn bailout?

That’s rich.

Of course, TMZ is not quite the most credible source of news, I would say.

But if it’s true, I’m afraid we just might have some out-of-work porn-stars.

Praise God.

Look, when there’s close to a TRILLION dollars in ‘free money’ [actually, your money and my money] up for grabs, people get grabby. Big surprise. Just like a lot of people who can afford thier mortgages have chosen to stop paying in order to qualify for the net rounds of bailouts.

As a side note though: the porn industy actually is in trouble due to competition from amatuers: some days it feels like things just keep getting worse.

I think the satire is being missed. These porn people weren’t saying that the porn industry was really in trouble and they were wanting the government to bail the companies out. What they were saying is that the government has no right to bail out individual companies because once you bail out one company (GM, Chrysler, CitiGroup, etc) you’ve set yourself up to bail out ALL companies and that’s NOT what government is for. They were making this point by ‘saying’ that they were looking for a handout to prove the point that the government should not be giving handouts. It was meant to make people think, laugh, and then think some more. It was not meant to be taken seriously.

A porn bailout? That’s one way to get folks to tune into CNN Congressional hearings. I can only imagine what the money would be used for, but I better not say it out loud…:o

Well, it is a stimulous plan…

The porn industry is never, ever, ever in trouble.
At least not financially.

I find it very hard to believe that the porn industry is in trouble. A few years ago the porn industry made more then the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL combined. Some 54 million dollars! Although if this report were true it wouldn’t be bad news.

Even if this industry falls into the wayside their is so much free porn on the web porn would still be a problem. Just simply type in the word “hot” after anyone persons name and you will yield tons of nude pics. Its rather sad, the only filter yahoo and google offer is to click on a link that turns off the safe search option.

I can’t see the porn industry really collapsing. Its too cheap to produce; all it takes is two people willing to have sex for money, and a third guy who knows how to make a website that wants to film it.
