The power of angels over physical matter

hi, i was wondering, how much power are angels (and demons) capable of exercising over physical matter if God were to give them complete freedom to do so. for example, i read in the bible that angels assumed bodies, but did they do this by their own power or were they given the bodies by God?

The Catechism doesn’t say much about their powers though from the Scriptures we know that they can assume the form of men and women. Demons were seen in the Scriptures to possess humans, many of them, and to cause them physical harm. Demons still possess people today and we all suffer from their temptations. And it is safe to assume that they can still cause physical harm to some extent. It must be assumed that God prevents them from doing more harm.

Pray to your guardian angel and ask his protection and don’t shame him by sin.
