Received an email from ICC which contained a nice video…

Dear ICC Friends,

If you’ve ever wondered about the power of the education you receive at the Institute of Catholic Culture, you will want to watch this video!

Each day, this sixth grade class begins the day by chanting a psalm. Their teacher wrote us and said that “The ICC programs (particularly David Clayton’s Praying Constantly: A Practicum on the Divine Office) were by far the ultimate catalyst” for teaching his students how to chant the psalms.

While the teacher, Andrew, had tried to pray the liturgy of the hours before and had picked up a copy of the Divine Office, he writes that he had “essentially no understanding of how to pray it, so I only picked it up every once in a while.” Then, when listening to the ICC presentation with David Clayton, he thought he’d attempt the Office once more, and taught his sixth graders along with him to open each day with the chanting of a psalm.

What a beautiful testimony!

I love it!

Actually, this is quite useful to me. The “melody” the kids are using to chant with is one that an old priest of ours used to use. I sometimes forget how it goes, and so it’s nice to have a audio reminder of it.

In fact, if anyone know what that particular “melody” is “called,” I’d be happy to have more information on it.

For those who haven’t gone to the ICC’s website, go now! They have a ton of free audio and are always very orthodox. Catholic Answers’ president Chris Check is a frequent speaker there.

Edit: I found more info on that chant mode in the talk Deacon Sabatino mentioned.
