I have been going to confession more regularly (monthly) over the past few years. Like most people, I often feel that I confess the same old sins over and over again. Recently, however, I have realized that one sin has dropped off the radar. I used to take the Lord’s name in vain and speak profanely on many occasions. I would confess it, and fall back into the habit. I can’t say I ever made a big effort to change. And, yet, I don’t do it any more. And, when I start to, I catch myself and am ashamed. Somehow it just slipped away. My whole brain connection has switched.
I truly believe the power of the confessional, the power of God, has allowed this to take place. And I am very grateful. I’m not sure I ever realized how offensive this habit must have been; but it is the one God chose to address.
