A little background before I get to the main point of the story…
Every morning, I pray Liturgy of the Hours - Morning Prayer, along with my own prayers and petitions, scripture reading, and a few different daily devotional booklets. Every night, I pray the rosary. As part of my prayers both morning and night, for the last month, I have prayed for healing in my body.
As a lead-in to the main point of the story, I want to say that there are few bible verses / chapters that I know specifically the book / chapter / verse.
So to the main point. As I was in the middle of my prayers this morning, I caught myself dozing off momentarily. Since I wake up at 4:30 am to begin my prayers, this is something that happens from time to time. It was during this quick “blink and you’ll miss it” nap that I had the words “Isaiah 38” come into my mind. I realized it was a book and chapter number, but I disregarded it for a minute because I was in the middle of other prayers. I almost went ahead with the remainder of my readings, but decided to open my bible up to that chapter.
Being unfamiliar with that particular book and chapter prior to opening the bible, I was stunned by what I saw. The title for that chapter is “Hezekiah’s Sickness.” It is basically the Lord’s response to Hezekiah after he has cried out to the Lord for living faithfully and wanting to be healed.
Out of all the books and chapters in the bible, I have no reason for that particular one to come into my mind other than the Lord, through the Holy Spirit, spoke to me in answer to my prayers.
I wanted to share this with everyone to attest to the power of prayer. Pray the rosary every day. Consider wearing the Brown Scapular (I do) and devote yourself to the Blessed Mother. If more of us around the world did this, I’m convinced it would be a far better place.
