In The Book of Amos, Chapter 8 Verse 7 states:
Code:
The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob:
Never will I forget a thing they have done!

What is the pride of Jacob?

I think, “the pride of Jacob” refers to anything and everything that Israel (a.k.a. Jacob) rightly or wrongly holds dear, as if God was saying, “I swear by everything you hold dear that I will never forget your wicked deeds.” Some translations and commentaries say that “the pride of Jacob” refers to God Himself, who certainly ought to be the pride of Jacob. Other commentaries say that the words are said ironically.
