I was at mass today and during the consecration, the priest held up the chalice which contained the wine and said “this is my body…(and the rest of it)”. Then paused, realizing his mistake, picked up the bread and then said “this is my body…” and then so on. I was confused by the mistake, as this has never happened before. I thought to myself that I would abstain from the Eucharist just in case…but saw him go to the tabernacle to get more hosts that were already consecrated. So I thought that ok, I’ll just be in the back and get one of those ones.
Anyway, what is a Catholic to do in a situation like that? Just assume that the priest knows what he is doing and receive faithfully?
