My brother and I drove into the church for Confessions, but the priest never came! We waited for about 30 minutes then gave up and left. This is kind of strange actually. I was preparing to give a pretty heavy confession, but now the people were filing in for Mass and the organist was waiting to practice. What should I do? Any thoughts?

Sounds like he may have had say an emergency - someone dying and in need of a Priest.

Call any Catholic Church - or call that one and make an appointment.

It does sound like there might have been an emergency. I would make an appointment or visit another parish.

As posts 2 and 3 imply, sometimes this happens.

Please see the suggestion in #3.

Sometimes when a priest goes on vacation the visiting priest doesn’t know to cover the confessions before Mass. this may have been what happened. 🤷

This is a learning lesson.

All sins are intentional; if you did not intend the act, it is not a sin.

So consider this a little warning sign - where would you be, what status would you be in, if you were suddenly to die?

I am not suggesting you are casual about your moral life; we all sin. But maybe it might give you pause, next time you are tempted. You may not always be able to get to confession after a serious sin.

Think about it. You have now had the experience of having committed sin, and of not being able to avail yourself of Reconciliation.

Just a thought.

More than likely the priest had an emergency. Kudos to you for wanting to receive grace through reconciliation.

I would try to make an appointment for Confession. Often, if you live near a Shrine, the priests there offer confession more often and during the week. Masstimes.org is a great place to find neighboring Church’s with reconciliation hours.

God bless.
